Site work and paving for a civil project in Madison, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

The County intends to use the results of this process to award a contract or issue a purchase order for the product(s) and/or service(s) stated Highway Design Services - CTH V (CTH N to 640' W of CTH VV North). The proposed CTH V project is 3.0 miles long extending from CTH N to 640' W. of CTH VV North. This project will consist of a pavement overlay with the shoulders being widened from 4-feet (0-feet paved) to 6-feet (5-feet paved). Additional work will include intersection improvements by adding turn lanes to select intersections (if needed), replacement of impacted driveway and cross culverts, side slope grading to accommodate the wider shoulders and new turn lanes (if needed). This additional grading will require strip right-of-way acquisition along the entire length of the project. The scope of this project includes both preliminary and final design of CTH V. The new typical section is proposed to be two 11-foot lanes with 5-foot paved shoulders and 1-foot gravel shoulders. Field survey, soil borings, geotechnical report, and the pavement design report are required. The consultant shall be responsible for all elements of the environmental process, including but not limited to: Agricultural Impact Notice, Wetland Investigations, Section 4(f), Section 6(f), Historic and Archeological surveys, and the WisDOT required environment document. Existing culverts will be hydraulically sized using TR-55 methodology. All intersections will be brought up to current standards. There is anticipated R/W acquisitions as part of this project. R/W acquisition will be completed by a consultant hired through a separate RFP process that will take place approximately at 60% plan completion. The construction project shall be completed under a road closure to thru traffic. A detour route should be utilized.. Consultant shall hold all public meetings requested by WisDOT or Dane County, including at least 1 Local Officials Meeting and 1 Public Involvement Meeting. The selected consultant shall be on the WisDOT Roster of Eligible Engineering Consultants. The Dane County Purchasing Division is the sole point of contact for questions and issues that may arise during the RFP process.
