Chesterfield County and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) have identified interim and long-term safety improvements to the Beach Road and Riverway Road intersection. The improvements are an all-way stop intersection (interim) and a proposed roundabout (long-term). The all-way stop was operational on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024. The proposed roundabout will require developing maintenance traffic plans for the construction phase. Construction is anticipated to take place without a detour using off-peak-hour flagging operations. Federal funds have been secured to construct a roundabout for the Beach Road/Riverway Road intersection. Design will begin in fall 2024. This project is included in the County's 2025 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of March 19, 2025, design began in fall 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
