Renovation of an educational facility in Lansing, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Access can be obtained by calling the office of the Architect at 708-339-3900. The Architect has been authorized to refuse to issue plans and specifications and related bidding documents to any person, firm or corporation that the Architect considers to be unqualified. Proposals must be submitted on the forms provided. All proposals or bids offered must be accompanied by a bid bond in a form acceptable to the school board, cashiers check, or certified check made payable to School District 158 in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal as a guarantee that if the proposal is accepted, a contract shall be entered into and the performance of the contract is properly secured. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the proposals without the consent of the Board of Education of School District 158 for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled time of closing bids. APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS All employees of the Contractor or Subcontractor(s) on construction work for this Project shall be paid wages at rates not less than those prevailing on similar construction in the locality as determined by the Department of Labor in accordance with the applicable provisions of the "Wages of Employees on Public Works Act" (Prevailing Wage Act, Illinois Rev. Stat., 820 ILCS 130/1 et. seq.) and with all applicable provisions of the "Illinois Preference Act", 30 ILCS 570/.01 et. seq. SCOPE OF WORK REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL BID PACKAGES: A. Each prime contractor shall have supervision on site during the performance of their own work, as well as that of their subcontractors. This person shall attend weekly coordination meetings as well as conduct their own safety and coordination meetings with their subcontractors. This person assigned by each prime contractor to complete this supervision shall remain the same throughout the duration of the project. B. Provide all work and materials in compliance with the intent of drawings and specifications. C. Provide all work, coordination, and responsibility for the proper location of utilities affected by the work. D. Attend coordination meetings as required by the Architect. E. Provide all layout work required for proper execution of work under your respective bid package. F. Provide labor for cleanup of debris and waste associated with your bid package. Contractor shall reimburse Owner for any failure to clean up debris or waste associated with their work. G. Provide all labor and materials as called for in the specification sections assigned to your bid package. (Note in the INDEX those sections that apply to ALL bid packages.) H. Comply with scheduling requirements issued by the construction manager. I. If a contractor bidding any of the packages contemplates the usage of overtime for their crews, that contractor shall include the cost of premium time and associated costs for other contractors affected by the overtime schedule, and any associated construction management costs. J. Parking for workers shall be as designated by the Owner. Site access shall be as arranged and designated by the Owner. K. Contractor shall include any temporary protection of their work as required due to anticipated weather conditions during the proposed construction time frame. L. Each contractor, and each of their subcontractors and suppliers, are responsible for establishing and maintaining a safety program compliant with all applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA. Each contractor, and each of their subcontractors and suppliers, are responsible for means and methods utilized in the performance of the Work. M. Charges imposed by Utility Companies for the service changes shall be paid for by the Owner directly. This includes charges issued by ComEd, Nicor, AT&T, Cable. Each respective contractor shall include coordination with Utility Companies as required to achieve service changes indicated. N. Contractors are to provide for their own temporary power needs unless the Contract Documents specifically indicate otherwise. O. The Contractor shall be responsible for employing and assigning a staff of competent personnel who are fully licensed, insured and qualified to perform the work as required by this contract The successful Bidder of the construction of the improvement will be required to file a performance and payment bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract, with sureties to be approved by the Architect, which performance bonds shall be conditioned upon proper and faithful performance by the Contractor of the work specified in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore, according to the time and terms and conditions of the contract: and also that the successful Bidder, now the Contractor, shall properly pay all debts incurred by the Contractor in the execution of the work, including those for labor and material furnished for himself and all of his subcontractors. The bonding company shall have a minimum rating of "B+9" in accordance with Best's Key Rating Guide - Latest Edition. The Contractor shall be required to furnish sufficient insurance or guaranty of indemnity to School District 158 against any and all claims which might arise for damages to persons or property due to the negligence of the Contractor or Subcontractors, or their officers, agents, employees or servants, during the construction of said improvement and until the said improvement has been finally accepted as complete by the School District 158. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or bids.
