This solicitation is for Pre-qualification Only. This project will consist of lining public sewers that are an integral part of the City's collection system. The sewers that are involved are combined sewers. The combined sewers is a 2'3" x 1'6" egg shaped brick pipe. B. The Contractor shall note that combined and sanitary sewers shall be lined with a styrene barrier felt liner designed to eliminate styrene odors and emissions. A pre-liner will not be accepted in lieu of a styrene barrier. The sewers are located in predominantly residential areas. The lining work in the residential areas may be completed during the day. The Contractor shall note that any changes in size/diameter, layout, or location of the sewers in this contract that differs from the base plans shall immediately be brought to the attention of the Construction Engineer. The Contractor shall coordinate with Construction Engineer to determine the course of action. REQUIREMENTS OF LINING WORK: Only a specialized Contractor, who may be prime Contractor only if the department has pre-qualified him for such work, shall perform the actual lining of the pipe. A prime Contractor, who is pre-qualified for general construction, shall subcontract the actual lining of the pipe to one of the specialized Contractors which the department has pre-approved. For a list of these Contractors refer to section 00100, Instructions to Sellers, Article 1.07, Pre Qualification of Sellers. Ten percent (10%) of the gross amount of the bid Contract to give security for the faithful performance of the work and for compliance with the Contract in the form of a performance bond, with a surety company approved by the City, in a sum equal to 100% of the amount of the Contract (equal to the Quote amount plus any contingency amount). In addition, as provided by the Act of 1967, December 20, P.L. 869 (8 P.S. 193.1, as amended), the Contractor will be required at the time of execution of the Contract to give a payment bond, with a surety company approved by the City, in a sum one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract (equal to the Quote amount plus any contingency amount),
