The project is expected to be awarded next week or so.** Solicitation Summary The Charles County Public Schools, La Plata, Maryland, requests sealed bids for the replacement of the original 1989 heating plant which is 35 years old. The existing heating plant consist of two (2) oil fired boilers. The existing domestic water heating is also oil fired. Natural gas is available to the site and shall be extended to the building to replace the oil-fired equipment. The existing boilers shall be replaced with new high efficiency gas fired condensing units. The domestic water heater shall be replaced with high efficiency gas fired condensing type. The heating water pumps shall be replaced with variable flow/speed type using high efficiency motors. All piping and hydronic accessories (expansion tank, air separator, etc.) located in the boiler room shall be replaced in its entirety. All equipment is being replaced with upsized equipment for the addition and redundancy. The heating plant automatic temperature control system shall be replaced with a Direct Digital Control (DDC) type and be interlocked with the County EMS. Proposed Bidders who seek to be pre-qualified shall complete the Contractor's Pre-Qualification Questionnaire and submit for approval to bid this project. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the Board of Education of Charles County, or a satisfactory bid bond, executed by the bidder and a surety company, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the base bid, shall be submitted with each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. A letter shall accompany each bid from the bonding company guaranteeing to issue Payment and Performance Bonds. No bidder may withdraw his bid within sixty (60) days after the actual date of opening thereof. The bidder shall submit the Major HVAC Equipment Submittal with the Bid with the expectation that the submittal review can be returned with the Notice to Proceed and save valuable lead-time on mechanical equipment. The failure of a Bidder to complete and submit all the required forms shall result in a determination that the Bid is not responsive and a determination that the Bid is not susceptible for award.
