Renovation of a mixed-use development in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility; and educational facility.

The scope of work for this project is to replace an existing autoclave in a biosafety level 3 lab on UNC CH campus. The existing autoclave will be removed by the installer (Getinge) and the new autoclave will be set in place and connected and started by the installer (Getinge). See below for division of work between contractor/installer. This work is in an occupied lab building. See attached plans and specifications for full requirements. This work includes disconnect utilities from autoclave, remove autoclave wall frame, install new wall frame (provided by owner), and modify existing utilities as required for the new autoclave. The wall frame is a ~2” wide stainless steel frame that goes around the opening of the autoclave from anteroom to lab. Installation details are in the drawing set. Changes are needed to the utilities - domestic water supply, waste, steam service, electrical service, and compressed air. Some painting and patching and epoxy floor repair will also be needed. HEPA air filtration and exhaust grille coverings are to be provided by contractor, as well as plastic barrier and walkoff mats to keep surrounding spaces clean. Work will continue in surrounding lab spaces outside the BSL3 area so corridors will need to be shared.
