The Foothills Regional Airport site has been evaluated for use as an industrial park and is a high priority for the county. The site includes 1,051.21 acres surrounding the Foothills Regional Airport on the Burke and Caldwell County lines. Caldwell County has been awarded funding from the Golden Leaf Foundation to complete due diligence activities on the site in preparation for future development. Burke County, the City of Morganton, and the City of Lenoir are partners in this project. II. Caldwell County, NC invites interested parties to submit statements of qualifications and experience to provide a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (contingent on the results of the Phase I ESA), Wetlands, Threatened and Endangered Species Assessments, and an Initial Historical, Archaeological, and Cultural Resource Review on the 1,051.21-acre site as well as a Geotechnical Site Investigation for a smaller region within the larger project area. See attached maps for further details. The project site is located at 3566 Morganton Lenoir Airport Avenue, Morganton, NC, 28655. The objective of this proposed work is to assess the potential for, or presence of, Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) associated with current or previous property use in accordance with standards promulgated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the American Standard for Testing Materials (ASTM) Standards E1527-13 and E1903 and to accurately determine the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions within the project area by providing a predevelopment geotechnical site investigation and report for the purpose of constructing a future industrial park.
