Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Montreal, Quebec. Design plans call for the construction of a 50,060-square-foot, three-story above grade library; for site work for a library; playground / park / athletic field; and library.
Construction of a new 4,635 square meter library building and Le Prévost park in Villeray district of Montreal. The new library will bear the name Carline-Dawson and will be triple the size of the current facility. Featuring a unique design signature, the new library will remain united with the Patro Villeray community and leisure centre through a link between the two locations. The current library premises will have a new purpose. The project also includes the redevelopment of Le Prévost Park, which will eventually become a place focused on urban agriculture, art and poetry and will benefit from the best practices in stormwater management. Highlights of the proposed concept include the integration of a wooden structure and the use of steel for the exterior cladding. The project will also include windows facing the park. Note. The building aims for LEED Gold certification and meets Passivhaus standards (bioclimatic design, high energy efficiency). TIMELINE: The selected winning design and construction work monitoring consortium. Is working on concept establishment of the project. Preliminary plans are expected to begin in spring 2026. According to the owner's preliminary scheduling construction will start in 2028 and will be completed in 2030. Further update in fall 2026.
