Renovation of a mixed-use development in Kansas City, Missouri. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
SCOPE CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING: DEMOLITION: 1. REMOVE APPROXIMATELY 1,400 FT OF EXISTING CONCRETE CENTER PLATFORM INCLUDING ALL FOUNDATIONS, EXISTING STRUCTURES, AND SUB STRUCTURES FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW PLATFORM. 2. REMOVE (5) RAIL-CROSSING LOCATIONS. COORDINATE THE REMOVAL OF CROSSING WITH THE HOST RAILROAD. SECOND CROSSING TOWARDS EAST END OF NEW PLATFORM IS TO REMAIN. 3. REMOVE (2) STAIR ENTRANCES TO THE STATION PLATFORM FROM THE ABOVE WALKWAY. SITE WORK/PARKING/PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY (PROW): 1. PROVIDE SITE GRADING, DRAINAGE AND UTILITIES TO SUPPORT NEW PLATFORM. 2. PROVIDE NEW RAIL CROSSINGS AS SHOWN ON THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. 3. WALKWAYS CONSIST OF CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE FLAT PLATE SLAB, 4-INCH DEPTH UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN. 4. PROVIDE STATION BASED MOBILE LIFT ENCLOSURE (WCLE) AND MOBILE LIFT AT NEW PLATFORM. PLATFORM: 1. PROVIDE A NEW CONCRETE PLATFORM: 15 INCHES ABOVE TOP OF RAIL (ATR) CENTER PLATFORM WITH A 5’-7” CLEARANCE FROM CENTER OF RAIL TO FINISHED PLATFORM EDGE, APPROXIMATELY 1,100 FEET LONG BOARDING AREA. 2. INSTALL NEW (2) STAIRS, TEMPORARY ENCLOSURES AND ROUGH INS FOR TWO NEW ESCALATORS TO THE PLATFORM. INSTALLATION OF THE ESCALATORS THEMSELVES SHALL BE PRICED AS AN ADD ALTERNATE. 3. PROVIDE NEW ELEVATOR EQUIPMENT. 4. EXTEND ELEVATED CONCOURSE TO ACCOMMODATE LANDINGS ON EITHER SIDE OF EXISTING CONCOURSE. 5. INSTALL A TRENCH THROUGH / UNDER PLATFORM WITH ACCESSIBLE COVER FOR 480V POWER CABLES. 6. PROVIDE NEW ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND LIGHTING ALONG ENTIRE PLATFORM. STORM WATER MANAGEMENT: 1. PROVIDE TRENCH DRAIN IN PLATFORM FOR STORMWATER MANAGEMENT. CONNECT TO EXISTING STORMWATER SYSTEM ALONG TRACK 30. 2. PROVIDE NEW PLATFORM UNDERDRAINS AND CONNECT TO EXISTING STORMWATER SYSTEM ALONG TRACK 30. SIGNAGE: 1. PROVIDE A1A AND A1B SIGNAGE, ALTERNATING AT 85’ MAX OC TYPICAL. 2. REPLACE EXISTING DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE AT STAIRWAYS TO ELEVATED WALKWAY WITH A10 SIGNS. 3. PROVIDE REGULATORY D3 AND D4 SIGNAGE AT PLATFORM ENDS. 4. PROVIDE A12 STATION IDENTIFIER SIGNS AT PLATFORM STAIRS. 5. PROVIDE B21 SIGN ON TICKET COUNTER DOOR. STATION EXTERIOR: 1. RELOCATE EXISTING ADA DOOR PUSH PAD OPERATOR ON EXTERIOR SIDE OF STATION ENTRANCE DOOR AT ELEVATED WALKWAY. 2. ADJUST DOOR ACTUATOR TO COMPLY WITH ADA STANDARDS FOR OPENING FORCE AND CLOSING SPEED. STATION INTERIOR: 1. PROVIDE A NEW AMTRAK STANDARD TICKET COUNTER AS REQUIRED FOR ADA COMPLIANCE. PROVIDE A TWO-TRANSACTION STATION TICKET COUNTER WITH A CENTER BAGGAGE DOOR. PROVIDE NEW LOW-PROFILE BAGGAGE SCALE AT THE BAGGAGE DOOR. COORDINATE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL NEW/ RELOCATED POWER, DATA, AND COMMUNICATIONS WITH AMTRAK. PROVIDE NEW LIGHTING TO COMPLY WITH AMTRAK STANDARDS. PROVIDE LEVEL THREE BALLISTIC RATING TO TICKET COUNTER ELEMENTS (WALLS AND GLAZING). 2. RECONFIGURE THE EXISTING EMPLOYEE SIDE OF THE TICKET COUNTER, AND BACK OF HOUSE FOR INSTALLATION OF COUNTER. 3. DEMOLISH EXISTING NON-HISTORIC, NON-STRUCTURAL WALLS TO CONSTRUCTION CORRIDOR TO PROPOSED FUTURE LOUNGE. 4. DEMOLISH THE EXISTING OVERHEAD COILING DOOR AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEW OVERHEAD COILING DOOR. 5. REPLACE DOOR THRESHOLD AT WAITING ROOM ENTRANCE. 6. REPLACE EXISTING FIRE EXTINGUISHER CABINET WITH SEMI-RECESSED MODE, SALVAGE EXISTING EXTINGUISHER FOR USE IN NEW CABINET. 7. PROVIDE ADA COMPLIANT LAYOUT FOR SEATING NEAR TICKET AND BAGGAGE COUNTER. 8. REPLACE CLOCK AT WAITING ROOM. 9. RELOCATE EXISTING RENTAL CAR PHONE TO ADA COMPLIANT HEIGHT. Note from ESI Construction: Please take note of the following information relating to this project: ESI has a teaming agreement with one of the pre-qualified companies bidding a series of nation-wide Amtrak improvement projects. We will be a “Supersub” bidding all scopes as a GC and the pre-qualified company under an IDIQ will provide QC and support. Local background checks and Everify are required along with a company drug and alcohol testing policy. Amtrak and BNSF online safety training are required: Allow for $30 per person for Amtrak. Training takes an hour or so to complete. Allow for $80 per person and 1 time $100 per company fee for BNSF. Training takes 2-4 hours to complete. All subcontractors selected for work have to be approved by Amtrak. 3 years of OSHA logs and EMR have to be submitted.
