Site work and new construction of an educational facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a 200,000-square-foot, five-story above grade, two-story below grade educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and educational facility.
The MDLS project will redevelop 3 acres that are currently occupied by Biomedical Sciences Way, Pharmacy Lane, and a parking lot adjacent to the existing South Parking Structure. The project adds a new approximately 200,000 GSF building adjacent to an existing parking structure and research facility in the heart of the UC San Diego School of Medicine. The project will house laboratory facilities and faculty offices with five stories above grade, one below grade that includes a vivarium, and an additional below grade basement level with a more limited footprint. Access to the adjacent parking structure will be revised and public realm improvements will also be made within or near the primary project site. Scope of Work: This project consists of the construction of a 6 story plus basement Multidisciplinary Life Sciences Building (MDLS) to serve the health sciences and academic affairs program. The building includes 108,000 assignable SF of instructional laboratory and support space, wet research laboratory and support space, dry research laboratory and support space, and faculty offices and administrative support space. Shared spaces would include vivarium, conference, and building services. The building is designed as a concrete structure. Each Subcontractor's Scope of Work for each work category is consistent with the trade work that is represented by the Trade Name in the table above. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is the CM/Contractor for this UC San Diego project selected through a previous procurement. CM/Contractor is responsible for bidding and awarding all subsequent subcontractor packages / work categories. All information requested in these forms must be provided in order to be considered "responsive" to the requirements of the prequalification In addition, the University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Potential bidders will be required to submit their small business outreach plan to the University as part of the prequalification process. In lieu of mandatory Prequalification Meeting, each Subcontractor shall provide an "Intent to Submit" in writing (via email to KLStrahl@mccarthy.com) must be received by 4:00 P.M., MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2024 in order for your firm to submit a Prequalification Questionnaire.
