Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is soliciting proposals for a qualified and experienced Contractor for Asphalt Paving Services and related projects as needed. Projects could include but are not limited to replacement and new asphalt paving, resealing, striping, milling, patching, concrete curbs, and concrete sidewalks. Projects included in this RFP are defined as small projects (value under $30,000) and large projects (value between $30,000 and $1,000,000). Asphalt Paving - Light/Heavy Duty Install new asphalt paving systems for light-duty (pedestrian walkways, small parking areas) and heavy-duty (bus lanes, main parking lots, driveways) applications. Replace existing asphalt surfaces with new materials, ensuring proper grading, drainage, and compaction to extend lifespan and improve durability. Ensure all work adheres to state and local specifications for material quality, thickness, and load-bearing capacity. Milling Mill and remove deteriorated asphalt layers as needed to prepare for resurfacing or replacement. Ensure proper cleanup and disposal of milled materials in compliance with environmental regulations. Provide surface leveling to improve transitions between adjoining pavement areas and ensure a smooth final installation. Patching Repair potholes, cracks, and localized damage in existing asphalt surfaces using approved patching techniques and materials. Perform surface preparation, including cleaning and cutting damaged areas to ensure long-lasting patch adhesion. Conduct temporary or permanent patching solutions based on project needs and conditions. Concrete Sidewalks and Curbs Install new concrete sidewalks and curbs in compliance with ADA accessibility standards and local regulations. Replace or repair damaged sidewalks and curbs, ensuring proper grading, leveling, and smooth transitions for pedestrian safety. Use high-quality concrete materials designed for heavy pedestrian and vehicular use, ensuring durability and crack resistance. Parking/Traffic Signage Install parking lot and traffic signage, including directional signs, ADA parking signs, stop/yield signs, and speed limit indicators. Replace damaged or missing signage to maintain clear traffic flow and compliance with local regulations. Use reflective, durable signage materials to ensure visibility in all lighting and weather conditions. Temporary Gravel Parking Provide and install temporary gravel parking areas, ensuring proper grading, leveling, and compaction to maintain functionality. Maintain temporary parking surfaces as needed to address wear, potholes, and drainage issues. Remove gravel parking surfaces when no longer needed and restore the site as specified. Wheel Stops Install and secure concrete or rubber wheel stops in parking areas to prevent vehicle overhangs and protect curbs, sidewalks, and landscaping. Replace damaged wheel stops with new materials that are durable and resistant to wear. Ensure proper alignment and placement for parking safety and compliance with ADA requirements. Traffic Control/Speed Bumps Install traffic control devices, such as speed bumps and humps, to regulate vehicle speed and improve safety on MNPS campuses. Repair or replace damaged speed bumps, ensuring smooth transitions for vehicles while maintaining safety standards. Use high-visibility materials and markings to ensure traffic control features are clearly visible to drivers and pedestrians. MNPS reserves the right to accept or reject, in whole or in part, any offers submitted. The failure of an Offeror to promptly supply information in connection with, or with respect to, reasonable requests may be grounds for a determination of non-responsibility. MNPS reserves the right to issue additional rounds, to all potential Offerors and/or shortlisted Offerors, as it deems necessary for the purposes of evaluation. Additional rounds may include, but not be limited to, Offeror interviews.
