SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall furnish equipment with experienced operators, labor, transportation, tools, materials, supplies, supervision, incidentals and traffic control as necessary to perform pavement patching (paving) of sections up to 500 ft in length on various primary and secondary routes within the Northern Neck Residency consisting of Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Westmoreland and King George Counties. This will also include small/miscellaneous paving and patching projects within this same area. Roadway patches will generally consist of but are not limited to patches consisting of two lanes and shoulder/tie in's, 14 to 24 foot in width, with placement thickness of 1.5 to 2.5 inches for surface mixes, up to 3 inches for intermediate mixes, and up to 4 inches for base mix asphalt (subject to mix design placement limitations). Additional lifts over these limits will be considered additional patches for the same location. Some patching locations may not be continuous with possibility of Bridge approach paving where a structure may separate start and end locations. Bid lines will be for pavement patching sections of 50 to 100 ft (paid as Each), pavement patching sections of 151 to 300 ft (paid as Each), and pavement patching of 301 to 500 ft (paid as Each). Leveling course (scratch course) for pavement patching sections, when necessary, will be paid per short ton placed. Small miscellaneous paving/patching projects will be per short ton placed with a minimum planned quantity of 50 short tons. Milling machine for flexible pavement planning will be paid hourly with a minimum of 4-hour payment. Cost for all equipment, labor, tools, supplies, supervision, incidentals (including tack), and traffic control are included in the bid line(s) unless listed as a separate line item. The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as "VDOT") is soliciting bids from qualified firms to furnish equipment with experienced operators, labor, fuel, transportation, tools, materials, supplies, supervision and incidentals as necessary to perform pavement patching (paving) of sections up to 500 ft in length on various primary and secondary routes within the Northern Neck Residency to also include small miscellaneous paving/patching projects.
