The Cherokee Heights Elementary School Building Systems Replacements project will address infrastructure, primarily in the form of replacing aged mechanical and electrical systems in many areas of the building to improve indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and extended working life of the facility. The floor area of the school is approximately 85,000 SF including the original structure built in 1925 and later additions completed in 1971, 1978, 2000, and 2001. The 1978 addition is the Baker Center, a leased space used by a variety of non-profit tenants. The project scope does not include work in the Baker Center. Construction is to be completed in phases to coordinate with the school calendar. Phase 1 is to take place during the summer of 2025; Phase 2 is to take place during the 2025-2026 school year, and Phase 3 is to take place during the summer of 2026. The school will be fully occupied during Phase 2 and partially occupied during Phases 1 & 3 by school administrators and staff.
