Renovation and addition to a fire / police facility in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Design plans call for the renovation of a 5,300-square-foot, one-story above grade fire / police facility; and for the addition of a 9,300-square-foot, one-story above grade fire / police facility.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring/summer 2026 *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Town will be providing an Owner’s Project Manager to assist through the design, bidding and construction process. This project is planned to executed as design-bid-build. The Town conducted a feasibility assessment and space needs assessment to provide very preliminary cost estimates and schematic layouts for the renovations of the Fire Stations #3 and #5. Existing information, the space needs assessment, and preliminary layouts conducted as part of the feasibility study are attached to this RFP in Attachment A. Existing drawings of the fire stations are attached to this RFP in Attachment B. Fire Station #3 (260 Old Westford Road) is a single story building constructed in 1970. The existing layout is 2,700 square feet. The existing configuration is lacking adequate space for employee living quarters and limited gear storage space within the apparatus bay. The existing apparatus bay slab is deteriorating. The existing site is 20.65 public space, protected under Article 97, and the footprint of the fire station site is 0.64 acres. The site is located within a Zone II wellhead protection area and adjacent to wetlands. Fire Station #5 (295 Acton Road) is a single story building constructed in 1966. The existing layout is 2,600 square feet. The existing configuration is lacking adequate space for employee living quarters and limited gear storage space within the apparatus bay. The existing apparatus bay slab is deteriorating. The existing site is 0.36 acres.
