Renovation of a fitness / recreation center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.

The Project shall be known as Bid #03-25 Sports Flooring, and the general character of said project shall consist of the following: All permits, labor, equipment, tools, and services to remove and dispose of existing gym floor and furnish and install the new flooring. The project shall include dumpster services, a new rubber base around the perimeter, metal transitions at doorways, and game lines for basketball, volleyball, and three pickleball courts. The existing bleachers shall be removed and reinstalled by the contractor. Part 1-GENERAL 1.01 DESCRIPTION A. Scope 1. The complete installation of Robbins PULASTIC Classic 110 polyurethane surfacing over highperformance resilient base mat, by Robbins, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, including adhesives, resilient base mat, polyurethane sealer, polyurethane structure layer, surface topcoat, and court markings. B. Related work specified under other sections. (A cross-reference should be incorporated in these sections.) 1. Concrete and Concrete Finishing................................................................................... Section 03300 a. Concrete Slab Depression: a total of 9 mm, equal to system thickness, (0.3543 inches). b. Surface Finish: steel troweled and finished smooth. c. Concrete Tolerance: 1/8" (3mm) in radius of 10' (3m). Floor Flatness and Floor Levelness (FF and FL) numbers are not recognized. d. NO CURING AGENTS OR SEALERS ARE TO BE APPLIED TO THE CONCRETE SLAB. 2. Membrane Waterproofing and Dampproofing............................................................. Section 07100 a. Concrete subfloors on or below grade shall be adequately waterproofed beneath the slab, at the perimeter walls, and on the earth side of below-grade walls by a general contractor using a suitable type of membrane. b. Floor System Supplier Qualifications 1. Supplier shall be an established firm experienced in field and have been in business for a minimum of ten (10) years, Robbins, Inc. or approved equals below, provided that ALL system materials and performance criteria are met and that all liquid components come from a singlesource formulator: a. Herculan MF 9+2 (with color-matched resin) b. Conipur HG 9+2 (with color-matched resin) c. No other products/suppliers will be accepted. 2. Formulator shall be ISO-9001 certified for quality control, and ISO-14001 certified for environmental care, and provide copy of Certification document upon request. B. Floor Contractor/Installer Qualifications and Certifications 1. Floor Contracting Company and field personnel shall be trained by supplier on proper installation and finishing process. C. System Industry Approvals 1. Floor system shall be approved by F.I.B.A. (International Basketball Federation) and provide copy of Approval upon request. 2. Floor system shall be approved by I.H.F. (International Handball Federation) and provide copy of Approval upon request. Each bidder must submit with its bid a cashier's check drawn on an Alabama bank or a fully executed bid bond on the form that is contained in the Contract Documents executed by a surety company duly authorized and qualified to make bond in the State of Alabama. All bonds, sureties, and/or cashier checks will be made payable to PARA for an amount not less than 5 percent of the total bid in the proposal but in no event more than $10,000.00. PARA reserves the right to reject all bids and/or reject and rebid the Project should it determine that doing so is in PARA's best interest. PARA reserves the right to reject any bid submitted by a bidder determined not to be responsible or whose bid proposal is not responsive.
