The City is seeking to develop a Destination Playground in the Northeast corner of Central Park. The park is located west of Metrotown, the City’s urban residential and commercial centre. The site is situated south of Kingsway, west of Patterson Avenue and Northeast of the SkyTrain corridor, directly north of the Patterson Skytrain Station. The design and construction of the destination playground will be the first project within the redevelopment of this portion of the park that will include large open lawn, washrooms, concession, and plazas. The City is seeking to develop their most significant and exciting destination playground that will be architecturally stunning, provide high play value and accessibility, and include integrated and interactive lighting. The playground is intended to provide opportunities for ages 0-12, and appeal to tweens with either exciting play or social experiences. The play towers and tunnels are to be sized so that agile adults can reasonably make their way through the structures, tunnels and slides.
