Separate Sealed Bids for the Construction of 200,000 Gallon Elevated Water Storage Tank Construction. Minority and women's business enterprises are solicited to bid on this contract as prime contractors, and are encouraged to make inquiries regarding potential subcontracting opportunities and equipment, material, and/or supply needs. Engineer will transmit to all prospective Bidders of record such Addenda as Engineer considers necessary in response to questions arising at the conference. Oral statements may not be relied upon and will not be binding or legally effective. A. The concrete waterproofing admixture shall be of the cementitious crystalline type that chemically controls and permanently fixes a non-soluble crystalline structure throughout the capillary voids of the concrete. B. The design shall include the use of the crystalline waterproofing repair materials that generate a non-soluble crystalline formation in the concrete. The following codes and standards shall be complied with as though fully written herein in these specifications and shall be applicable to CONTRACTOR, supplier and manufacturer. Dates and amendments shall be the latest edition thereof in force at time of project bid date. Bidders shall be responsible for obtaining their own copies of these codes and standards and pay all cost thereof. Bidders may request addresses of codes and standardsissuing agency from ENGINEER in writing in sufficient time to obtain required copies from issuing standards institute. A. CONTRACTOR to furnish all materials and labor and perform all operations, including, but not limited to, coordination with general construction shop and field drawings, manufacturer's recommendations and installation instructions, to produce a complete and operative system. It is specifically noted that the plans are diagrammatic and the specifications are descriptive and do not show every piece of equipment, conduit, wiring boxes, etc.; however, where any mention of a system or system operation is indicated in the contract documents, CONTRACTOR shall provide material and labor for that system to be fully operational to the satisfaction of the ENGINEER and OWNER. B. The following operative systems shall be applicable to this project. 1. Secondary 120/240 VAC single phase distribution system, complete with conduit, conductors, termination lugs, trenching and backfill. 2. Miscellaneous systems complete as shown on the drawings and as stated herein A. Equipment and materials specified by manufacturer's name and catalog number or an approved equal by the ENGINEER unless otherwise specifically stated herein. B. CONTRACTOR shall submit to the ENGINEER in triplicate, typewritten copies of all electrical materials and equipment proposed for use on the project within ten (10) days after award of contract. If thislist is not received prior to fifteen (15) days after award of contract, CONTRACTOR isrequired to furnish specified items by manufacturer and catalog number. C. Verbal or written requests by sales agents, manufacturer's agents, CONTRACTOR'S or subcontractorsfor substitutions of specified equipment by manufacturer and catalog number prior to opening of bids will not be considered or approved. In no case will prior approval be given verbally or in writing of any equipment whetherspecified by manufacturer and catalog or not prior to opening of bids. D. CONTRACTOR shall not place any orders or release shipment of any piece of equipment or materials until all formal submittals have been approved by ENGINEER including any supplemental submittal requirements requested by the ENGINEER. E. Samples of any equipment or materials may be required at the ENGINEER's request. This shall apply to specified items and substituted items. Samples shall be made available to the ENGINEER at his designated location. Special equipment such as motor control centers, generators, automatic transfer switch, radio equipment, fire alarm orintrusion alarm systems would be required to be set up and inspections made available at the manufacturer's plant locations. All expenses for travel, per diem, etc. will be paid for by the CONTRACTOR. This expense may include an OWNER'S representative. F. The ENGINEER's opinion shall be final and binding on the approved equal status for equality of any substituted item from that listed by manufacturer and/or manufacturer catalog number. G. Submittals for approval by ENGINEER shall include shop drawings, manufacturer's brochures and data sheets, samples where required such as paint, waterproofing, marking tape, wiring and cable; test reports, testing procedures, finishes, etc. H. Submittals shall be required, but not limited to, the following: 1. Wire and cable. 2. Conduit and fittings. 3. Boxes, covers and plates. 4. Branch circuit compression connectors. 5. Marking and identification devices. 6. Grounding system. 7. Paint. 8. Miscellaneous as shown on drawings. A. Metal conduit. B. Flexible metal conduit. C. Liquid-Tite flexible metal conduit. D. Non-metal conduit. E. Fittings and conduit bodies. A. Building wire. B. Cable including instrumentation, control, etc. C. Wiring connections and terminations. A. Provide a complete lightning protection system for the new elevated tank. As indicated on drawings. B. Employ the services of a licensed lightning protection systems engineering company to design and install the lightning protection system and prepare detailed installation drawings and material specifications. The drawings, material specifications and details for this Section shall be submitted for review. C. The lightning protection system shall be checked by a field inspector upon completion of the installation. The prime contractor shall assume full responsibility for the correctness of the installation, shall make any and all corrections and additions deemed necessary by the Association, and shall pay for all costs of any subsequent reinspections as required. D. The Lightning Protection System for the elevated tank shall be installed in conformance with these specifications and the plan drawings. The CONTRACTOR has the option of submitting alternate methods of lightning protection for consideration in his/her Proposal, provided they offer an equal or greater degree of protection than those specified. A. This specification covers the removal of concrete, bituminous and gravel surfaced streets, drives, curbs and walks in a way of pipelines, and the reconstruction of bituminous, concrete and gravel surfacing. The pavement break shall be sawed to insure straight joint. B. In general, resurfacing shall follow pipe laying without undue delay. Streets shall be resurfaced within 20 working days of pipe laying. A. The work to be performed under this contract shall include all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, all excavation, all backfill, construction plant, and facilities necessary for proper installation of all water mains and/or as herein specified. The work under this contract shall also consist of all necessary relocations of utilities and restoration of street surfaces, parkways, all utilities, driveways, sidewalks, etc., to conditions existing prior to the start of construction. B. Contractors are required to carefully inspect the site of construction prior to submitting bids, as neither Owner nor Engineer will accept responsibility for conditions which careful examination of the premises would have shown existed. Failure to do so shall not relieve contractor of responsibility of making changes required by conditions encountered on site. C. Permits required for the installation of the work, as well as all authorized code inspections, construction fees, meters and assessments shall be arranged for and paid for by the Contractor. Final "meter deposits", if required by utility for permanent service, shall be made by Owner. The work to be done in this contract consists of furnishing all materials according to the specifications herein and furnishing all labor and equipment necessary for the manufacture, delivery, erection, painting, and sterilization of one all-welded elevated steel water storage tank and tower of height and capacity herein specified, complete with appurtenances, all to be erected on foundations provided by the Contractor.
