Site work, new construction and renovation of a medical facility in Toronto, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 845,670-square-foot, 11-story above grade, 317-bed medical facility; for site work for a medical facility; and for the renovation of a medical facility.

The New Patient Care Tower (NPCT) at North York General Hospital (NYGH) will create new, purpose-built clinical space for NYGH's highest acuity programs at the general site (4001 Leslie Street). In total, the NPCT will house 317 private inpatient rooms and increase inpatient bed capacity by approximately 110 beds on the general site. Clinical programs within the NPCT include: - Medical/Surgical Units - Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy - Inpatient Mental Health - Maternal Newborn Program (Triage and Induction, Labour and Delivery, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) - Surgical Services - Emergency Department The NPCT will also include space for select clinical support and support services: - Biomedical Engineering - Command Centre - NYGH Foundation - Environmental Services - Medical Device Reprocessing Department In addition to services included within the scope of the NPCT, renovation within the existing hospital is required to enable enhanced operations or growth for select clinical support services to support the net growth in inpatient capacity. Services requiring renovation in existing space include Laboratory Medicine, Inpatient Pharmacy and Medical Imaging. NPCT will be built on a highly constrained site south of the existing facility. The oldest part of the existing parking structure will be demolished to create space for the NPCT (approximately 146,852 square-feet of parking garage demolition). Gross Floor Area for the tower and renovation to existing space includes approximately 845,670 square-feet. * March 5, 2026 The Request for Proposals (RFP) stage has closed for the North York General (NYG) - New Patient Care Tower redevelopment project. The new tower will include patient care spaces and underground parking connecting to NYG's existing building to enable flow of patients, staff, and materials, ensuring a high level of integration between new and existing spaces. Following a fair, open and transparent Request For Qualifications (RFQ) process, four teams were shortlisted and invited to respond to the RFP in August 2025. The following teams submitted their proposals by the deadline: Building Beyond Alliance, EllisDon + Parkin, North York Healthcare Alliance and PCL Constructors Inc. The project is being delivered through Infrastructure Ontario's (IO) Alliance delivery model. Technical and Commercial submissions were received, and Collaborative and Behavioural Assessments will be conducted in spring 2026. The alliance partner is expected to be announced in summer 2026. During the Alliance Development Phase, the partners will work together to advance the project's design and mitigate project risks. Project implementation is expected to begin following the conclusion of the Development Phase.
