Washington Street Improvements The Town of Warrenton (Town) is accepting bids from qualified, Class A contractors to install concrete curb, sidewalk, and drainage along Washington Street from Green Street to Elm Street. The following General Terms and Conditions shall become part of all solicitations for construction projects that involve building, altering, repairing, improving or demolishing any structure, building or paving projects, and any draining, dredging, excavation, grading or similar work upon real property. The major work elements and Contractor's responsibilities expected for the Washington Street Improvements project shall include, but are not limited to: Contractor shall submit a two-week look-ahead schedule each Thursday by 4:30 pm. Contractor shall submit all materials for review prior to ordering. Work shall be completed by October 31, 2025. Access: all entrances shall have access and shall always be maintained. This is a unit price bid with lump sum elements. The Town has estimated all quantities on this bid as accurately as possible, however, all quantities given are estimates and should be treated as such. Contractor shall submit a maintenance of traffic plan and work zone certifications to the Town's Project Coordinator for approval prior to any street closures. Contractor shall be responsible for keeping the roadways and sidewalks adjacent to the work area clean and free of debris. All sidewalks shall have four inches (4") of subbase (21-A) under the proposed sidewalk and the subbase material shall be included in the sidewalk bid item. Any additional fill to meet proposed grade shall be included in the grading pay item. Bids shall be binding for 60 days following the closing date. Bid Bond: All bids shall be accompanied by a five percent (5%) bid bond for the total amount of base bid. Performance and Payment Bonds: A one (1) year Performance Bond shall be provided to ensure an adequate warranty is maintained. Performance and Payment Bond with a value of 100% of the contract amount for all contracts greater than $100,000 will be required of the successful Bidder prior to commencing work. The due date for submitting questions related to this IFB will be Friday, February 7, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Any questions submitted on or before Friday, February 7, 2025 at 12:00 pm will be answered and uploaded to the Town's website. Unless otherwise specified herein, if the Contractor fails to complete work by the date specified, Contractor shall be subject to pay the stipulated sum of $600.00 as liquidated damages for each and every work day the project fails to be complete. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive all informalities. In the event the Town Manager chooses to reject all bids, the Town will re-advertise.
