The NRWTP makes use of lime to develop a slurry to soften, reduce water hardness and remove contaminants from raw water in the treatment process. The spent lime is routed to the lime drying bed, where it is dried out and then collected for disposal. The back wash ponds are provided for storage of backwash water. The backwash ponds and drying beds Nos. 3/4/5 erode over time and the underdrain system in the drying beds gets clogged. This project is for the work to rehabilitate the backwash ponds that includes cleaning, resloping, and installing an HDEP liner, and for the work to rehabilitate drying beds No. 3/4/5 that includes replacing underdrain lines, inlet valves, stop logs, and the filtrate sump pump. This will provide optimum operational efficiency of the water treatment plant. As of January 16, 2025, this project is in included in the City'of Palm Bay''s FY 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP)) and funding is allotted for construction in FY 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
