Site work and paving for a road / highway in Martinsville, Indiana. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Scope of work: Bituminous asphalt resurfacing and associated work of approximately 12 miles of various roads in Morgan County as more fully set forth in the Contact Documents. The award will be based on lowest responsible and responsive bid for the total amount of all work. As of February 14, 2025, this project will be awarded, and construction will start on February 18, 2025 Projects must be completed within Morgan County by October 31st , 2024. Work shall be completed in accordance with the Contract Documents. Contractors shall comply with all requirements of IC-5-16-13. Scope of Work The following Special Provisions shall apply to this contract: o Paving shall be in accordance with Section 402 of the 2024 INDOT Standard Specifications. o All roadways listed on the Bid Proposal and shown on the accompanying Plans shall receive a 1.5" HMA overlay on Asphalt for Tack Coat, for the full width of the roadway. The Contractor shall sweep the roadway immediately prior to placing tack coat and otherwise prepare the roadway in accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications. o The bid proposal also lists items for Full Depth Patching for roadways. This work is to be performed, as needed, and as directed by the County Engineer or his representative. These areas will be marked in the field prior to work taking place. o Paving shall be performed in one full width pass for all roadways with a width of 22 ft or less. Roadways with a width greater than 22 ft may be paved in a single, full width pass, but if this cannot be achieved the following requirements, and requirements in special provision #11, for VRAM shall be followed. o Roadways wider than 22 ft. are to utilize a Void Reducing Asphalt Membrane (VRAM) along the centerline joints. Quantities for VRAM are included for longitudinal centerline joints along tangent sections of the roadway, as well as within cul-sacs. Cul-de-sacs with a width less than 44 ft assume two passes with a single joint. Cul-de-sacs with a width greater than 44 ft., but less than 66 ft., assume three passes with two joints. Cul-de-sacs with a width greater than 66 ft. assume four passes with three joints. o Cul-de-sacs adjoining approach roadways with a width less than 22 ft. will not require VRAM. Work shall be completed in accordance with the Contract Documents. Contractors shall comply with all requirements of IC-5-16-13. The Contractor shall perform everything required to be performed and shall provide and furnish all of the labor, materials, necessary tools, expendable equipment, and all utility and transportation services required to perform and complete in a workmanlike manner all the work required for the construction of the Morgan County CCMG 2024-2 Paving Project in strict accordance with the Plans and Contract Documents, including any and all addenda, hereinafter called the" Project", which Plans and Contract Documents are made a part of the contract, and in strict compliance with the Contractor's proposal and other Specifications herein mentioned which are a part of this contract; and the Contractor shall do everything required by this contract and other documents constituting a part hereof. These markings shall be placed in accordance with the latest version of the MUTCD and placement shall be coordinated with the County Engineer. o It is required that roads be viewed prior to bidding. o All overlays shall use HMA Surface, Type B (9.5mm) o HMA Intermediate, Type B (19.0mm) may be used for patching and wedge and leveling. o The County reserves the right to perform inspections, random testing of materials and job mix formulas and weigh trucks at any time. o Job Mix Formulas shall be submitted to the County Engineer for review and approval prior to work taking place. This shall be done a minimum of two weeks ahead of work taking place. o Transitions at Driveways - The Contractor shall make smooth transitions to all private driveways. The maximum vertical tolerance at a driveway transition will be 1/4 ". The maximum transition slope at drives shall be in accordance with the details shown on the plans. HMA utilized to make these transitions, which is normally referred to as HMA for Approaches, will not be paid for utilizing a separate pay item, but will be added to the total tonnage for the respective roadway at the same unit cost as mainline HMA pavement. o Transitions at Intersecting Roadways - Transitions at intersecting roads that are not to be resurfaced shall utilize transitional milling from 1.5" to 0" over a length of 10 ft from the intersecting roadway edge of pavement. Transitional milling will not be calculated and paid for separately but should be included in the cost of other items. o Milling of Joints at Intersecting Roadways and Driveways - All starting and stopping points, as well as intersections with roadways and private drives, will require 1.5" milling for the full width of the pavement interface of the driveway or intersecting roadway to provide smooth transitions. Milling of joints for transitions to driveways and roadways shall be in accordance with the details shown on the plans. This milling shall be considered incidental and will not be paid for separately and shall be included in the cost of other items. o Any storm castings, utility risers, valve boxes, or other appurtenances within the limits of paving shall be adjusted to grade to be flush with the finished paved surface. This work will not be paid for separately and shall be included in the cost of other items in the contract.
