The New Fairfield Board of Education is seeking competitive proposals from qualified contractors for mowing and plowing services for the New Fairfield Public Schools. LOCATION: Finance Office, 3, Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT 06812 BID SECURITY REQUIRED: None Pursuant to and in accordance with the Invitation to Bid, General Information for Bidders, and specifications relating thereto, of mowing and trimming of lawns and/or snow plowing the New Fairfield school locations. These specifications are provided for soliciting bids for snow plowing, for the New Fairfield High School, Middle School, New Fairfield Elementary School and mowing & trimming of New Fairfield High School and Middle School for the 2025-2026 seasons as described in the specifications for the prices listed below. The Bidder is responsible for obtaining all necessary equipment to perform this work. The Bidder must be fully Insured and Bonded. The Bidder must give a 100% guarantee of all work. The contract period for mowing and trimming will be for the fiscal year of July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Mowing and trimming will be cut one day every week starting on or about July 1, 2025, and then end about mid-October and then start again mid-April and finish on or about June 30, 2026 or as instructed by the Directors of Buildings and Grounds. The payment schedule for the mowing and trimming service will be on a monthly payment schedule. All athletic field mowing will be completed utilizing line kits on all grass cutting equipment. The intent is to produce a professional look of uniform and straight alternating lines on the fields. All mowing and trimming must be completed in one day for the athletic fields. The athletic field(s) preferably to is cut on Thursdays. This one-day will be consistent throughout the length of the contract and will be decided upon by the Director of Building and Grounds. The Director of Buildings and Grounds reserves the right to change the schedule based on the schools' or town's needs and/or weather changes. All areas will be mowed to a height of 2 1/2" with sharp blades. The Director of Buildings and Grounds reserves the right to change the mowing height in different areas, if needed. All areas will require trimming with string line type trimmers around bleachers, fence lines, goal posts, head stones and etcetera. All areas of walkways that have grass clippings must be cleaned up. The bidder will be expected to plow and pile snow at the extremities of the roadways and parking areas at New Fairfield High School, Middle School and New Fairfield Elementary School during the period October 1, 2025, through May 30, 2026. The Contractor must plow snow at a frequency that will not allow any more than 4 inches of snow to accumulate at any given time during a storm. The bidder shall provide all equipment. The curb markers to assist shall be installed and maintained by the Board of Education. The bidder must provide a minimum of 3 snow plowing vehicles of appropriate size at all times. Also, the BOE encourages all bidders to provide additional equipment as needed and to list this equipment in your bid. The plowing shall include all driveways and parking areas at the High School, Middle School and New Fairfield Elementary School. If school has been canceled for the day or on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays, snowplowing must start within one hour after the snow has stopped. In the event that school is on a delayed starting schedule, plowing must start at an appropriate time to ensure that the driveways and parking lots are clean for the start of school. The contractor will be expected to arrive automatically when snow has fallen. Contractor is responsible for all snow over 1". The contractor will maintain a way to be contacted by the Director of Buildings and Grounds at all times, for example, cell phone number, answering service. The base bid is for work at the High School, Middle School and New Fairfield Elementary School. The bidder shall inspect the snowplowing areas prior to bidding. Sanding of the parking area is not to be included in this bid. QUESTIONS: Request for interpretation of any portion of the bid may be made by telephone to the Purchasing Agent at 203-312-5653. All replies will be given verbally and a copy of any such inquiry and advice (if deemed vital to the bid by the Purchasing Agent) will be made available to each prospective bidder in the form of an addendum. Bidder should check the Town's website for addendums/updates 48 hours prior to the bid opening.
