Site work, new construction and renovation of a medical facility in Red Deer, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 600,000-square-foot, six-story above grade medical facility; for the renovation of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.

The intent of this Request for Proposals ("RFP") is to solicit and receive formal offers from prospective Proponents for the provision of mechanical and electrical construction management services for the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) Redevelopment - New Patient Tower and Main Building Renovations ("Project"). The successful proponent will enter into a Preconstruction Services Subcontract to assist the construction manager with preconstruction activities as outlined in Schedule C. As Bid Packages are developed a separate Construction Services Subcontract will be issued to initiate the Construction Services. The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre ("RDRHC") is the only "Level 3" trauma referral hospital and the key access point for specialized care in Alberta Health Services' ("AHS") Central Zone. Constructed in 1980, the existing hospital has 370 inpatient beds, along with ambulatory and diagnostic services. Currently operating at its capacity, the hospital is not keeping pace with current demand for inpatient and outpatient specialty services. Approximately 30% of patients living in the RDRHC catchment area routinely travel to either Edmonton or Calgary to access specialized health services. A portion of these patients could be treated and/or cared for at RDRHC if capacity issues are addressed Alberta Health, with AHS and Alberta Infrastructure, has initiated a project to redevelop the RDRHC. The Project will be a combination of new construction and renovations on the existing site. Budget for the overall Project was announced at $1.806 billion which is inclusive for all activities involved with the projected construction of a new in-patient tower, new ambulatory building, and extensive renovations to the existing hospital.
