Demolition, asbestos abatement and renovation of a municipal facility in Ansonia, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the demolition of a municipal facility; for the renovation of a municipal facility; and for asbestos abatement for a municipal facility.

SHW Building 12 Abatement and Demolition Abatement and demolition services for 35 North Main Street (building #12) Ansonia CT. Seeking proposals for qualified abatement and demolition contractors only. The City of Ansonia is seeking a contractor to remove and properly dispose of hazardous building materials (HBM), followed by demolition of Building 12 at a former industrial property located at 35 North Main Street, Ansonia, Connecticut (the former SHW site). The project objective is to provide demolition and abatement services as needed to remove Building 12 to slab from the site. The city funding is not unlimited; therefore, the costs and sequencing for site restoration are important considerations. The Contract Drawings attached show the areas that are considered part of this scope and the proposed sequence of work. Because of the dilapidated condition of the buildings and the distribution of ACM throughout, Alternative Work Practice (AWP) approvals shall be requested by the Contractor from the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH). The Contractor shall follow the requirements and procedures as stated in their approved AWP (to be prepared by Contractor under this Scope of Work) when performing the abatement work. More details are provided in the Scope of Work document attached to this RFP. The project is funded in part by the State of Connecticut and prevailing wages apply. Invoicing must demonstrate adherence to certified payroll completion It is anticipated that this Project will have a duration of 60-90 days. Each bidder submitting a price proposal must deliver with the proposal a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the estimated project cost. Note that the selected contractor will be required to submit a Performance Bond and Labor & Material Bond The selected Contractor will provide an anticipated construction duration period in days within the project manual that will be used in the bid package (90 days). If the Contractor neglects, fails or refuses to achieve substantial completion of work by the substantial completion date in the executed contract, and such delay is not otherwise excused under this contract, then the Contractor shall agree to pay the Owner a liquidated damage for breach of contract for each and every calendar day that the Contractor shall be in default of the project work. See the DECD Bidding, Contracting and Construction Guidelines (DECD Guidelines), Section 16 for more details. For this project, liquidated damages have been calculated at $500 per day.
