St Paul Empire Lounge Kitchenette Upgrades Project - Request for Letters of Interest - LOI X 103 25017 Amtrak is currently accepting Letters of Interest for Construction Services in support of our MSP Minneapolis St Paul MN Empire Lounge Kitchenette Upgrade. All interested qualified firms should review the attached and respond accordingly by 02/04/25. All questions should be directed to the Procurement Agent listed in this advertisement only. Introduction: Amtrak is accepting Letters of Interest for Construction Services in support MSP Minneapolis St Paul MN Empire Lounge Kitchenette Upgrade. Responses are to include qualification information requested/stated below and be limited to ten (10) one-sided typed pages. Amtrak, at its sole discretion and without discussion, will determine which Contractors are to be added to its short list for the forthcoming Invitation to Bid. This project consists of upgrading lighting, fixtures, and kitchenette area for Amtrak passengers in the Empire Lounge at St Paul Union Depot. The lounge refresh project supports the Amtrak Strategic Blueprint at a Top 100 station. Project is aligned to enhance the customer experience\ for both Long Distance Network and the new Borealis State Supported Service. The scope of work for this project consists of: I. Staging and Demolition - Due to the location of the Empire Lounge, contractor shall develop a staging and demolition plan in coordination with Amtrak and Ramsey County (landlord). Contractor shall make extraordinary effort to minimize dust, debris, and other construction related inconveniences so to respect the public common areas adjacent to the lounge. Contractor shall demolish the existing kitchenette cabinetry, haul away and dispose off-site. Care shall be taken to preserve existing electrical conduit to reuse for new kitchenette. Remove existing audio speaker and bracket, retain for reinstall. Remove existing panel sign, surrender to Amtrak on site. Restore existing floor and brick face after demo of kitchenette. II. New Cabinetry - Using existing woodwork located in the Great Hall as basis, contractor shall match in aesthetic and color a new counter/cabinet. Reference concept images below. The new freestanding structure may be constructed off site but shall be installed/assembled on site. New structure shall be secured to prevent listing, tipping, or any other potential safety risk, installed flush to the existing brick wall. Counter base shall be constructed to provide sufficient surface space to accommodate up to two (2) refrigeration units capable of holding bottles of water. Additionally, the base of the new structure shall sufficiently accommodate the upper hutch. Countertop surface shall not exceed the maximum height permitted by DOTAS standards. The side panels of the new structure shall be constructed to accommodate cleaning supplies on one side and electrical needs or other ancillary systems on the opposite side. Cabinets shall be available below the counter surface and above the refrigeration units. Contractor shall submit RFIs as needed to make clarification on desired project outcomes. -The upper hutch shall accommodate under cabinet LED lighting with individual unit switch controls. The center of the upper hutch shall be reserved to accommodate a future PIDS monitor of up to 65" size. The back of the structure shall be constructed to accommodate future power and data cable service to the future PIDS monitor. -The top edge of the hutch shall accommodate a new Amtrak panel sign. Contractor shall source a translucent panel sign where the Amtrak travelmark is backlit and against Amtrak blue background panel. Sign panel shall conform to the Signage Standards, particularly to emulate a B25 travelmark. The panel shall be removable and replaceable with ease. See Appendix for B25 standard. -The top of the structure shall be recessed sufficiently so to accommodate new lighting fixtures that are concealed from view. New lighting fixtures shall match as close as possible to the color temperature of the existing chandlier/pendant luminaires. Two fixtures shall be flood in nature, LED, angled to spread light upwards and toward the seating area of the lounge. A linear LED fixture shall uplight directly above the structure. All lighting fixtures at the top of the structure shall be dimmable. Controls for top lighting shall be hard wired and integrated into the structure at an accessible height in a discrete location. No wireless or app-based controller shall be considered. -Contractor shall not penetrate or alter the existing brick beyond what currently exists as discovered after demolition. Any proposed alteration to brick to properly secure the new kitchenette shall be made as an RFI after demolition and submitted to Amtrak for review with Ramsey County.
