Construction of a remarkable architectural structure that will become an emblematic element of the region. The footbridge will not only connect the two banks of the river to promote active travel, but also establish a direct link between residential neighborhoods, industrial and technological sectors, and public transportation networks. The owner considers three possible sites for the construction of the bridge over the Richelieu River: - with a connection to Route 223 to the west, in Beloeil, and to Route 133 to the east, in Otterburn Park; - connecting the McMasterville wharf on Route 223 to the west, to the Otterburn Park wharf, near the Pointe-Valaine Cultural and Community Centre, to the east; - further south, near a McMasterville-owned wharf on Route 223 to the west, with a connection to the Regie Intermunicipale de l'Eau de la Vallee du Richelieu, on Route 133 to the east. TIMELINE: The civil engineering professional consultant awarded following the request 401-113/2025_Serv_PRIP/20044027 ^has completed a preliminary analysis of the pre-project and concept establishment for the design of a pedestrian bridge over the Richelieu River. Deposited study report is under review. The project may be included into the city three-year capital expenditure plan for 2026-2028. No construction will immediately follow this report. The project will be followed if/when it proceeds to a design stage. Coverage of this report has been discontinued.
