City Of Garland The City of Garland is accepting bids for Bid 0518-25 GP&L College to Brand 138 kV T-Line Construction. Question Deadline 02/13/2025 at 5:00 PM CT This project consists of complete reconstruction of the GP&L 138kV College-Brand (CS-BR) Overhead Transmission Line and Distribution Underbuild as well as demolition of a portion of the College-Jupiter (CS-JU) 138kV Overhead Transmission Line. The construction is located in the City of Garland, Dallas County, Texas within existing easement and public right-of-way. The project is being constructed to improve system reliability and power capacity. CS-BR transmission line reconstruction is approximately 3.96-miles in length and includes demolition of the existing transmission line and structures and installation of new structures with three (3) phases of ACSS/TW 1926.9 kcmil (Cumberland) conductor and one (1) new 96-fiber OPGW shield wire. Forty-one (41) new tubular steel structures will be installed with the CS-BR reconstruction including six (6) on drilled shafts and thirty-five (35) by direct embedment. CS-JU transmission line partial demolition includes removal of existing transmission phase conductors, shield wire, and associated hardware to the limits indicated in the plans. Demolition activities will also include removal and salvage of one gang operated pole mounted air switch and topping of twenty (20) existing timber transmission poles. A total of Forty-one (41) new tubular steel transmission structures will be constructed. All new structures will be self-supporting with either a direct embedded or drilled shaft foundation. The structures will generally support one (1) three phase circuit of 1926.9 ACSS\TW "CUMBERLAND" transmission conductor consisting of one (1) wire per phase. The lines will also accommodate one Centracore 96-Fiber Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), three phase ACSR 477 "HAWK" distribution underbuild circuits where indicated, one 4/0 neutral circuit, and miscellaneous underbuilds, all as shown in the plans and details. CS-BR distribution line construction consists of complete reconstruction of the existing distribution underbuild along two sections of the College-Brand transmission line. Total length of distribution line reconstruction is approximately 2.69-miles and includes demolition of the existing distribution line and structures and installation of new structures with three (3) phases of ACSR 477 kcmil (Hawk) conductor and one (1) new ACSR 4/0 neutral. Sixty-two (62) new tubular steel structures will be installed with the distribution line reconstruction, all by direct embedment.
