Renovation of an educational facility in Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

This project entails the removal and replacement of the roof system at Belden Hall & Eddy Hall (within the Alumni Residence Hall quad). PROJECT LOCATION: Storrs Campus, Storrs, CT 06269 The work that will be required includes but is not limited to the following: o Removal of the existing roofing system. o Installation of new insulation. o Installation of new membrane and flashing. o Remove and replace existing roof drains as shown o Remove and replace existing doors and frames : All Requests for Information ("RFI") questions are to be posted under the Q&A Board Tab in the HuskyBuy sourcing event for this Solicitation. No phone calls or RFI questions emailed directly to the Procurement Agent will be accepted Question Deadline 04/10/2025 at 2:00 PM ET Removal of all debris caused by the Contract. 2. Protection of the public, building, grounds from damage during this contract is the responsibility of the Contractor for this project at all times. 3. Provide a project-specific safety plan that includes all aspects of the roof replacement scope, including storage and hoisting of materials. 4. Protect existing vegetation throughout the use of the site in accordance with Section 01 5639 - Tree and Plant Protection. Restore areas affected by the work with sodding and topsoil (or seed in accordance with Section 01 1230 - Alternates). 5. Repair or replace landscaping including trees, shrubs, or other planting disturbed during the Work of the contract with new to match existing, unless otherwise noted. Regrade and sod any grass area damaged as a result of the Work. Repair any walkways or paved areas damaged as a result of the Work. 6. Remove and replace existing roofing systems including, but not limited to: sheet metal flashings, gutter and downspouts, splash blocks, wood nailers, base flashings, gravel, membrane(s), coverboard, vapor retarders, insulation, and base sheets down to structural deck (or sloped lightweight topping, where present). Remove all existing metal and other existing flashings at roof perimeters, vent pipes, unit curbs, etc. as required to properly complete the work. a. At concrete deck areas, provide roof system complete with adhered roof membrane, coverboard, thermal insulation, and vapor retarder. Provide base and strip flashings and all accessories as required to complete the Work. b. The Contractor is responsible for performing fastener uplift resistance tests in the specified Roof Areas and per the frequency established within the Fastener Uplift Resistance Pull Tests Chart. 7. Prepare existing concrete deck substrates for application of new roofing, including removal of asphaltic base layer(s). Prepare existing exposed concrete slab edges by removing existing coating(s). Repair deteriorated concrete deck substrate (cracks, spalls, surface imperfections) where encountered on a Unit Price basis. Estimated quantities are to be carried as Allowances in the Base Bid but are not defined on the Contract Drawings. Additional repairs approved by the Owner will be compensated on a Unit Price basis in accordance with Section 01 2200 - Unit Prices. SET-ASIDE REQUIREMENTS: The Set-Aside Requirement for this Project is that (1) not less than thirty percent (30%) of the Total Contract Price be awarded to subcontractors who are certified by the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services as "Small Business Enterprises" ("SBEs") and (2) not less than ten percent (10%) of the Total Contract Price be awarded to subcontractors who are certified by the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services as "Minority Business Enterprises" ("MBEs") (the 10% set aside for MBEs may be included in the 30% set aside for SBEs). If the Contractor is an S/MBE, then any self-performed work may be included in the Set-Aside Requirement. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that they, and the S/MBEs they have selected, are eligible Connecticut-certified S/MBE contractors. LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: Liquidated Damages of Five Hundred Dollars and 00/100 ($500.00) per calendar day shall be assessed if the Contractor fails to achieve Substantial Completion or causes delay to the Substantial Completion of any portion of the work within the Contract Time. Bid Security: Provide a copy of a Bid Bond made out in the penal sum of ten percent (10%) of the Total Bid Amount. In lieu of a Bid Bond, a Certified Check in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Total Bid Amount is acceptable. A Bid Bond is only required for any Total Bid Amount over $50,000.00. A Total Bid Amount of $50,000.00 or less does not require a Bid Bond. The University reserves the right to elect to implement some, all, or none of the Alternates (if applicable) set forth in this Bid, as may be in the best interest of the University. Prices for Alternates are not negotiable since they are a component in determining the lowest responsible Bidder.
