Johnston Community College seeks Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Design-Build Services for the constructions of a new Public Safety Classroom Building, Multi-Story Conex Shooting Platform and Obstacle Course Construct a new classroom building and multi-story conex shooting platform located at the Howell Woods Environmental Center located at 6601 Devils Racetrack Rd, Four Oaks, NC 27524. The building is proposed as a pre-engineered metal building with insulation, built on a concrete slab. Construction to include a standing seam metal roof. A canopy should be provided at the front main entrance. Building architecture and aesthetics should be complementary to existing environment at Howell Woods. Scope of Work Please note the ranking of projects: 1. Public Safety Building 2. Multi-Story Conex Shooting Tower 3. Obstacle Course (based on remaining funds) Construct a new classroom building and multi-story conex shooting platform located at the Howell Woods Environmental Center located at 6601 Devils Racetrack Rd, Four Oaks, NC 27524. The building is proposed as a pre-engineered metal building with insulation, built on a concrete slab. Construction to include a standing seam metal roof. A canopy should be provided at the front main entrance. Building architecture and aesthetics should be complementary to existing environment at Howell Woods. The building structure is to be comprised of approximately 6,000 ft2 under roof and climate-controlled space with a stand-alone HVAC system. The building should include two small classrooms, a large classroom, two restrooms, office, secured storage, breakroom and kitchen. Connection to water, sewer, electrical, and IT network infrastructure are part of the project The project includes concrete aprons at entry connecting the building to Devils Racetrack Rd. An asphalt parking area to accommodate necessary ADA accessible parking spaces should be included. The multi-story conex shooting platform will consist of two conex shipping containers stacked with metal stairs and platforms. Each container will remain empty but need windows. The platform will be located at the 1,000 yards rifle range located within the JCC BLET Firing Range. The obstacle course will also be located at the firing range complex. It will serve as an agility course for the JCC BLET Program. Obstacle course could be a scaled down version of the Samarcand Training Academy in NC. As stated above, the course will be discussed further based on the available funds after the classroom building and multi-story conex tower are final. Refer to Appendix A and B for detailed information on the proposed building site.
