Site work for a civil project in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
**As of June 25, 2025 the project was awarded to Stone Construction LLC, with an awarded amount of $8,012,530.00** Work includes: Sediment Forebay- The sediment forebay will be constructed upstream of Greenwood Lake and improve the quality of stormwater run on before it discharges into the lake. It will also function to reduce the amount of sedimentation that gets into the lake. Lake Expansion and improvements- The lake expansion provides additional drainage storage while also providing recreational benefits. The lake expansion was designed to provide an aesthetic configuration with the proposed amphitheater landform. Existing lake improvements - Lake Improvements include excavating the lake to provide a minimum of 5' pond depth and modifying the existing weir to lower the lake which provides additional stormwater storage. The current budget accounts for lowering the existing lake by approximately 1.5" Lowering the water surface of the lake will require modifications to existing decks and the banks around the perimeter of the lake. These modifications are also included as a part of this project. Lakeview shelter - This includes a shelter structure that overlooks Greenwood Lake and was included in the master plan which will be used by the community and showcase the improvements to Greenwood Park. Cypress Bayou Channel Improvements -Channel improvements from Lavey Ln to the existing lake provide significant drainage benefit to the area upstream (north) of the park. The channel will also be designed to function as a blue trail that promotes paddling. Channel improvements include laying back the existing slopes of the bayou to 3:1 to prevent erosion and deepening the channel to encourage kayaking. Trail connection to Lavey Lane - The constructability of improving Cypress Bayou will involve clearing a portion of the wooded area along Cypress Bayou to allow for along reach excavator to be able to improve the bayou. The plan is to then replant some of the cleared area and add a walkable trail to this area after the channel has been improved. This trail will run north until it connects to the trail along Lavey Lane. Plantings will be added along this corridor to improve the area while still providing maintenance zones for future channel improvements. Amphitheater landform- The amphitheater landform area will be created using material from lake excavation. It will then be landscaped and graded to set up a location for a future robust amphitheater. Current earthwork estimates show that there will be ample material provided to construct the amphitheater landform. Excess material will be stockpiled in the northeast portion of the park. Path along entrance from roundabout to Hwy 19 - This path will provide pedestrian connectivity from the core of the park to a sidewalk project being constructed along Hwy 19.
