Renovation of a pre-engineered storage facility in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a pre-engineered storage facility.

This is the Phase 2 solicitation following an Invitation to Qualify. Only qualified suppliers have been invited to bid. This project work includes the design and construction of a salt shed located at Muncho Lake Maintenance Yard at Km 698 and Liard River Maintenance Yard at Km 763 of the Alaska Highway in BC. For reference, Dawson Creek is at Km 0, Fort St. John is at approximately Km 75, Fort Nelson is at approximately Km 455, and Watson Lake is at approximately Km 986 on the Alaska Highway. Construction activities that occur in a wetted perimeter will involve permitting. Work within 30 m of a waterway requires a full-time Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP). The work under this contract generally comprises of the following but is not limited to: .1 Project Management; .2 Contract submittals; .3 Quality Management; .4 The salt pile inside the existing salt shed will be removed by others. Contractor to coordinate with Departmental Representative and highway maintenance personnel to support highway maintenance requirements; .5 Demolition and disposal of the existing ‘coverall’ fabric salt shed located on the footprint of the proposed building; .6 Engagement of Professional Engineer(s) to complete the design of a new salt shed achieving the requirements detailed in the contract performance specifications and contract drawings; .7 Detach and re-attach existing geomembrane to allow removal of existing concrete blocks and construction of footing; .8 Supply and installation of the foundation designed for the loading of the salt shed building; .9 Supply and installation of the salt shed buildings; .10 Removal, stockpile, or dispose of existing concrete blocks to permit construction, and supply and install new concrete blocks; .11 Protection of the existing geomembrane liner and associated works, or reinstatement of the same if damaged, modified, removed, or otherwise required. Extend geomembrane as indicated in the Contract Drawings for the Liard salt shed; .12 Excavation, transport, and placement of backfill materials; .13 Surveys (construction layout, as-build survey, and others as required); .14 Environmental protection; .15 Grading of the site; .16 Work completed by Change Order (if required and approved by Departmental Representative).
