As of November 5, 2025, an engineer has been selected for the project. Construction is estimated to take place in late 2026. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Great Bend is seeking a consultant to provide design services for the Downtown Great Bend Sidewalk Repair and Accessibility Improvements. The work includes site assessments, data collection, preliminary design concepts, detailed design plans, specifications, estimates, assistance in obtaining any required permits, preparation of bid documents, and support during the bidding process, and construction oversight and support during construction (optional, based on the City's needs). The City reserves the right to issue a separate RFQ for construction oversight. KDOT Transportation Alternative, which is a design of sidewalk and ramp improvements around Downtown Main Street from 10th Street to 19th Street, around the courthouse (see the attached map). The scope includes repairing the sidewalk surface upheaval caused by tree roots, adding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps at the crossings and replacing sections of curb and gutter attached to the sidewalk and improving accessibility and aesthetics in compliance with ADA and other applicable regulations. Notice to Proceed to be issued May 26th, 2025, KDOT Three-Party agreement in place and in effect May 16th, 2025.
