Site work and paving for a road / highway in Delavan, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

The proposed construction consists of 16,500 square yards of milling, 2,250 tons of hot-mix asphalt, 800 lineal feet of pavement mark, and other miscellaneous items of work. This is a Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) Allocation Project. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bidder's bond, certified check, bank cashier's check or bank draft payable to the City of Delavan for five percent (5%) of the total amount of the Bid as provided in the Bidder Instructions. The work of this Pay Item consists of preparatory work and operations necessary for the movement of personnel, equipment, supplies, and incidentals to the work site; the establishment of facilities necessary for work on the Project; bonds, work trailers, initial insurance, engineering design, layout, fencing; and all other work or operations which must be performed or costs incurred when beginning work on the Project. The work of this Pay Item consists of removing the existing asphalt pavement surface a depth specified on the Bid Form where shown on the Drawings, indicated in the Specifications, and as directed by the Engineer. One or more of the following work items are associated with, and are considered incidental to, this Pay Item. a. Sawcut pavement surface. b. Remove and dispose of existing surface. c. Clean exposed stabilized base. 1. The work of this Pay Item consists of removing existing pavement and base course by use of a milling machine (or excavating equipment) and replacing it with new asphalt pavement or asphalt base materials. The following work items are associated with, and shall be considered incidental to, this Pay Item: 2. Removal: a. Mill, remove, and dispose of existing pavement to a depth of 3 inches. b. Prepare subgrade. 3. Replace with hot-mix asphalt pavement or base material. 4. Sawcutting the existing pavement for patching by the excavation method is considered incidental to this Pay Item. 1. The work of this Pay Item consists of adjusting the frames and grates of existing drainage and utility structures within the pavement or the curb and gutter as shown on the Drawings and as directed by the Engineer. The following types of structures will be included in this item: a. Storm Structures (Catch Basins, Inlets, or Manholes) b. Water Structures (Valve Vaults, Valve Boxes, Meter Vaults) c. Sanitary Structures (Manholes) 2. The following items of work are associated with and shall be considered incidental to, this Pay Item: a. Adjusting materials. b. Sawing, removing, and disposing of material. c. Replacing pavement around structure. d. Frame and grate adjustment of new manholes, valve vaults, or any other structure to match hot-mix asphalt binder course surface is considered incidental to the installation of the structure. 3. Only frame and grate adjustment of existing structures, to match final surface course, will be paid for in this Pay Item, at time of final surfacing. The work of this Pay Item consists of placing hot-mix asphalt pavement of the type and to the thickness(es) shown on the Details and as directed by the Engineer. The following work items are associated with, and shall be considered incidental to, this Pay Item: a. Install Hot-Mix Asphalt Lower Layer b. Install Hot-Mix Asphalt Upper Layer The work of this Pay Item consists of providing and installing erosion and sedimentation control devices. The following work items are associated with, and shall be considered incidental to, this Pay Item: a. Furnish and install inlet protection filters. The work of this Pay Item consists of removing the existing concrete curb and gutter and replacing it with combination concrete curb and gutter of the same type. The following work items are associated with, and shall be considered incidental to, this Pay Item. a. Sawcut existing curb and gutter, including steel reinforcement. b. Break, remove, and dispose of existing curb and gutter. c. Prepare aggregate Base Course below curb and gutter. d. Install Combination Concrete Curb and Gutter. e. Install all expansion joints, contraction joints, slip dowels, and tie bars. f. Install Protective Coat. g. Provide handicap ramps at sidewalks and depressed curb at driveways. The work of this Pay Item consists of repairing isolated areas of the pavement base. It is intended to determine necessary base repair locations after the surface asphalt has been milled. Work incidental to the Pay Item include the following items: a. Removal of existing pavement and base materials. 1. The work of this Pay Item consists of complete replacement of paint pavement marking, lines, letters, or symbols of the patterns, sizes, and colors. 2. Replace all pavement markings removed or damaged within the limits and construction, as shown on the Drawings, as recorded on the "Job Set" plan prior to removal, or as directed by the Engineer. This work shall be done as specified in Section 32 10 00 of these Specifications.
