Reservoir 3 is a critical drinking water reservoir in Everett's water system and serves City of Everett water customers south of 41st Street as well as the Alderwood, Silver Lake and Mukilteo water districts. This 20 million gallon (MG) in-ground concrete open reservoir was originally constructed 100 years ago. A cover was built over the reservoir approximately 30 years ago. The City of Everett is replacing Reservoir 3 because it is structurally deficient, and its cover is rapidly deteriorating. The new Reservoir 3 will be designed and constructed according to current seismic standards and codes to withstand a significant seismic event. Phase 1 of the project will include construction of a new 8 MG reservoir while the existing 20 MG reservoir remains in service. Phase 2 will include the demolition of the existing 20 MG reservoir and construction of a 12 MG reservoir at the same location. The new 8 MG reservoir will have a diameter of 220 feet and rise approximately 21 feet above the ground. The 12 MG reservoir will have a diameter of 268 feet and will rise approximately 22 feet above the ground. Both reservoirs will be cylindrical. As of June 2, 2025, this project is included in the City of Everett's - Fiscal Year 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program.
