Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a road / highway.
Works include the removal of the existing bridge and replacement with a new clear span bridge complete with concrete filled steel piles placed behind the existing piles to help facilitate the re-construction/regrading of the banks following removal of the existing abutments. Restoration of the channel cross section. Replacement of the 600mm diameter storm main across McGuire Road. Road and bridge approach construction. Provisional work - removing the culvert adjacent the east side of Banford Road along 48050 McGuire Road and 7036 Banford Road and daylighting Lindell Creek. A full road closure on Banford Road north of McGuire Road will be allowed for the bridge construction portion of the contract however thru traffic on McGuire Road must be maintained throughout the project duration. TIMELINE: Request for Expressions of Interest for design services is underway. Further update in late spring 2025, upon award. *The Project is funded by the City of Chilliwack and has an estimated construction budget of $985,000.
