The severe storm events of January 2023 triggered a landslide which threatened the stability of the roadway on Fairfax Bolinas Road at milepost 9.73. The slide area was immediately covered with plastic and sandbags. Delineators were placed around the slide area and the road remains open to one-way alternating traffic. This project will install permanent slope stabilization measures including a soil nail retaining wall and anchored steel mesh slope stabilization, pavement repairs, and installation of a steel rail post. The Engineer's estimate for this project is $575,000. Bids are required for the entire work described herein. THE WORK SHALL GENERALLY CONSIST OF PROVISION OF ALL MATERIAL, LABOR, AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO COMPLETE A SLOPE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. WORK SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: MOBILIZATION, WATER POLLUTION CONTROL, DEVELOPMENT OF SITE ACCESS, CLEARING AND GRUBBING, EXCAVATION, TEMPORARY STOCKPILE, SURFACE AND SUBSURFACE DRAINAGE SYSTEMS, A SOIL NAIL WALL, AN ANCHORED MESH SYSTEM, COMPACTED FILL, AND ROADWAY CONSTRUCTION. The Contractor shall utilize his best efforts to carry out this policy in the award of his subcontracts to the fullest extent consistent with the efficient performance of this contract. As used in this contract, the term "minority or women's business enterprise" means a business, at least 50 percent of which is owned by minority group members or women or, in the case of publicly owned businesses, at least 51 percent of the stock is owned by the minority group members or women. For the purpose of this definition, minority group members are Black, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, Alaskans or Pacific Islanders. There is no pre-bid meeting scheduled for this project.
