Reference Number 0000376752 The City of Central Falls is seeking a detailed proposal for the construction and installation of a playground at Raices Dual Language Elementary School located at 135 Hunt Street, Central Falls, RI 02863 A five percent (5%) bid bond is required to accompany all bids in the form of certified check, cashier's check, treasurer's check, or bid bond in the amount of five (5%) percent of the total bid. If the bidder is a partnership, the bond should be signed by each of the individuals who are partners. Site Preparation o Conduct necessary clearing and grading to align with the updated site plan. o Address obstacles, including tree locations, per the revised plans. o Confirm alignment and measurements based on finalized drawings. Playground Equipment Installation o Coordinate with Rory Marty, Facilities Director for the District, and Alberto DeBurgo, Director of Public Property for the City, for the procurement and delivery of all listed equipment. o Install playground equipment according to the manufacturer's specifications and safety standards. o Assemble playground structures, such as swings, slides, and other features. o Apply color schemes or customizations based on community feedback and the approved palette. Surfacing and Landscaping o Recommended Surfacing Option: A rubber surface is highly recommended for its durability, safety, and low maintenance. o Ensure landscaping integrates natural elements, preserving tree placements and other features. Safety and Accessibility o Ensure full compliance with ADA standards for accessibility. o Conduct thorough safety inspections to meet all relevant standards. Community Engagement and Voting Process o To encourage community involvement, responders must provide three (3) options for students, parents, and teachers to vote on, such as color schemes, equipment configurations, or themed design elements. These options should align with safety regulations and the overall vision for the playground. Additional Requirements: At project completion, the contractor should provide: o All warranty information. o Touch-up kits for future maintenance. o Recommendations for ongoing maintenance to prolong the lifespan of playground equipment and surfacing. If the estimated cost of the article or labor and materials is $5,000.00 or more, the successful bidder must provide, within 7 days of notification of the successful bid, a performance bond of an approved surety company in a sum equal to the estimated contract price which bond shall be conditioned upon the full and faithful performance of the contract. It shall provide further, that in the event the bidder fails or neglects to execute the contract or deliver the bond, the contract shall be null and void and the bond shall be retained by the City as liquidated damages for the delay and expense caused by the abandonment of the contract.
