Statements of Qualifications are being solicited for the design of improvements to CR 557, a 1.7-mile rural road from US 380 to SH 78 just west of Farmersville. Collin County is seeking a firm qualified to provide engineering services for the development of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates to be used for the bidding and construction of improvements to County Road 557. The contract for this project will not include a formal environmental analysis, right-of-way acquisition, nor construction management and inspection. Collin County Road 557 (CR 557) is a 1.7-mile, two-lane rural road connecting US 380 to SH 78 just west of Farmersville, Texas. The proposed project is the re-construction of the roadway to improve the structural and the geometric characteristics in order to withstand the increased traffic volumes and weights resulting from the anticipated growth of new development in the unincorporated areas of Collin County. Turn lanes will be included where necessary and the alignment of the road will be revised to run along the east side of an existing cemetery. The right-of-way (ROW) width will be approximately 120 feet to accommodate a future urban divided thoroughfare which is projected to be the ultimate section of this roadway. The cross-section of the roadway will be determined during the design process but will generally be required to provide safe travel lanes, shoulders of a width that will accommodate safe emergency conditions, turn lanes where necessary and adequate drainage in open ditches.
