Site work and asbestos abatement for an educational facility in Louisville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility; and for asbestos abatement for a educational facility.

The University of Louisville Procurement Services, on behalf of Physical Plant Department (PPD), is requesting bids from a qualified contractor for the removal and abatement of the Coal Boiler (#2) within the Steam and Chilled Water Plant located on the University of Louisville's Belknap Campus. The work will be awarded as a single project, but for accounting purposes the value of the abatement and general boiler demolition needs to be broken out separately on the form of proposal documents herein. The awarded contractor must provide all labor, equipment, tools, supervision, and permitting to complete the work as specified in these bid documents. This is not a federally funded project, and prevailing wages are not required. Scope of Work 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. All work associated with the removal, disassembly, and scheduling of work to be coordinated with the Trane Project Manager. The existing upper-level service mezzanine remains in place. Boiler will be disconnected from piping and electrical power by Trane. The opening that remains from the breaching removal will be patched by Trane. Contractor to meet all local. state certification and university requirements for abatement. All associated equipment, accessories, electrical panels, and piping to be removed completely. Any disassembly or cutting of the existing equipment required for removal from the mechanical room is the responsibility of this contractor. Mechanical space to be swept clean upon completion of work. Contractor to take care not to damage any existing equipment or building structure. It will be the responsibility of this contractor to repair any damage from the associated work. 10. Provide sign-in and sign-out sheets for each workday. 11. Provide proper signage, barriers and caution tape for work areas. 12. Provide a fire watch for any hot work. 13. Provide weekly scope of work each Monday to the Trane Project Manager. 14. Provide air sampling for abatement work. Obtain services of a third-party testing company to sample once per month or with changes in containment. 15. Contractor to estimate the weight of materials removed and if sent to a landfill or recycled and provide report for EHS. 16. Work is expected to begin in April 2025 and be completed no later than July 2025.
