Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Warren, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
Van Dyke Public Schools is requesting proposals from qualified theater sound design companies to provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary to enhance and install a sound system and other AV needs in the Van Dyke Public Schools Auditorium. The sound system enhancements and installation shall include new equipment, as well as upgrades to existing equipment, as needed, to maximize the sound quality of all the theater's productions and presentations. The winning vendor should bring a comprehensive and collaborative approach to the enhancements and installation of the proposed upgrades. The Van Dyke Public Schools Auditorium is located at Lincoln High School at 22900 Federal Ave, Warren, MI 48089. VanDyke Public School's auditorium sound system is showing its age with major issues of clarity and coverage needed for district events.The new system should be designed with spoken word and pre-recorded music as its primary use. Questions concerning the bid specifications may be directed to The Director of Facilities and Operations, Jeff VanConant via email at vanconant.jeff@vdps.net Overall Scope of Work to be Done The work to be performed consists of enhancing the sound system in the auditorium, installing new equipment, and repairing existing sound and AV equipment at the Lincoln High School Theater. This includes all incidental and appurtenant work necessary for the proper completion of the project. The vendor is responsible for procuring all required permits, drawings, and any other stated or unstated items needed to ensure a fully functional and reliable system as outlined in this document. Soundvision: A SoundVision file of the facility is available upon request. Please contact David Miller, the owner's representative, via email at david@stagedirectionconsulting.com. Loudspeakers Install an L'Acoustics A15i Series (Pure white RAL 9010 finish) left and right array with center fill and subs. Ensure the arrays and subs cover an effective frequency response of at least 60Hz20kHz. The system must produce an average level of at least 95dB(A), with +-3dB throughout the seating area, and have 6dB of headroom below maximum output. Verify speaker placement and its effect on sightlines and lighting angles to accommodate the venue's varied uses. Add delay speakers as needed to ensure consistent sound levels and tonal character for rear seating areas. Delay speakers should also be manufactured by L'Acoustics. Sound Reinforcement Amplifiers Amplifiers must be manufacturer approved and have appropriate factory-designed presets for the speaker cabinets proposed. Rigging and Cabling All loudspeakers and subwoofers (if flown) must be suspended using appropriate manufacturer approved and certified rigging components and hardware. Vendor will be responsible for implementing a means to ensure proper angle and axial position of arrays. Wiring and Existing Equipment Test all low-voltage audio cables and connections throughout the auditorium. Propose a plan for updating existing audio wiring and equipment configurations to integrate with the upgrades. Use existing amplifiers to provide at least two discrete speaker auxiliary outputs. Utilize existing amplifiers to distribute program sound to backstage areas. Soundboard/Stage Boxes: Provide, install and configure the following: (1) Allen and Heath SQ6 (1) Allen and Heath SQ6 Dust Cover (1) Allen and Heath DX168/with rack mount kit Audio Misc. Provide (5) Pro Co EXM-10 Excellines Microphone Cable - 10 foot (5) Pro Co EXM-20 Excellines Microphone Cable - 20 foot (2) Pro Co S14NQ Speaker Cable - speakON to 1/4-inch TS - 50 foot (4) Shure SM58 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone (2) Yamaha CHR12M-V2 1000W 12-inch Passive Monitor Speaker RapcoHorizon LTIGLBLOX 1-channel Passive Laptop Direct Box Pro Co BPMBMB-15 Excellines 3.5mm TRS Male to 3.5mm TRS Male Cable - 15 foot Commissioning and Training Collaborate with PAC staff for initial testing, commissioning, and tuning of the installed sound system. Provide complete system programming and setup. Offer four (4) hours of end-user training on the proper use and maintenance of the sound system. Attend the first event (or another agreed-upon event) after installation and testing to assist with first-time system use. Ensure all unused equipment is either returned to the owner or disposed of per the owner's preference. BID ALTERNATE #1 (Network Connections) Propose a turnkey solution for network drops to support audio transmission between the stage box and soundboard. Install, test, and ensure the operational functionality of Cat6 STP cables. Terminate cables in surface-mounted faceplates (Neutrik NE8FDV-B) and connect them to an owner-provided patch panel in the auditorium control booth. Install connections at the following locations: Downstage right of the proscenium wall Downstage left of the proscenium wall
