A Qualified Contractor for a Exterior House Renovation at Fayban Forest Preserve. The District Reserves the Right To Reject Any or All Bids. note: All Contracts for the Construction of Public Works Are Subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 Ilcs 130/1, Et Seq.) An Equal Opportunity Employer Work under this item includes, but is not limited to: The removal and installation of new cedar shake siding material in pre-determined areas of the residence. Replacement of damaged skirt boards. Staining/painting of entire structure, to include scraping, power washing, caulking and painting/ staining. Clean-up and proper and legal disposal of all waste All work is to be completed in accordance with the attached plans, details and specifications. All dimensions and quantities are approximate. It is the Contractor's responsibility to field verify all areas, quantities and grades. The Contractor is also responsible to adequately protect his work and provide protection to the public during construction. All construction debris and trash will be disposed of legally and properly off site. The Contractor will be responsible for leaving the site clean and for repairing any damage to existing turf, trees/shrubs, paved areas and site structures/amenities. 1. Install temporary traffic control barriers and signs at entrance road (entry and exit) so as to prevent any traffic / pedestrians from entering construction site a. Provide plywood and tarps to protect building and grounds b. Provide safety flags around all dumpsters, ladders and work areas 2. Cedar Shake Replacement a. Remove existing cedar shingles on 3 sections and corner to blend the corner in to existing shingles b. Replace any damaged wall sheathing c. Provide and install house wrap vapor barrier d. Provide and install No.1 cedar 16" shingles at 4.5" exposure with stainless steel nails e. Approximate area is; East facing wall is approximately 32'x20', South facing wall is approximately 24'x 8' and South facing dormer wall is approximately 4'x4'; total approximate 850 square footage of replacement siding. f. Repair or replace skirting around deck where needed g. Remove all dead wiring from exterior walls (phone/cable) h. Provide and install new pre-finished aluminum drip cap above all windows i. Magnetically sweep work area for loose nails j. Clean up and haul away all debris, on site dumpsters are not permitted to be used. k. Provide standard 5-year workmanship warranty 3. Painting and Staining a. Power wash entire house to remove all loose dirt prior to painting b. Allow wood surfaces to dry thoroughly prior to painting c. Kane County Forest Preserve will allow access to water and electric d. Wire-brush all loose or flaking stain and paint e. Re-caulk all window frames with Vulkeem Sealant or equivalent. f. Paint all previously painted wood trim, fascia boards, frieze boards, columns, railings, window frames, beams, door frames and vent frames with 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec, or District approved, comparable finish to match existing cedar shingle color and existing trim paint g. Project shall be completed by June 30, 2025. Any delays due to weather or material deliveries must be documented and signed off by the District Representative.
