Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in George West, Texas. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 17,000-square-foot fire / police facility; and medical facility.
Plans call for 17,000-square-foot building is designed with five bays for fire trucks, a 3,000-square-foot training facility, storage spaces for firefighter equipment, showers, and a day room/kitchen. The facility will also be equipped with state-of-the-art technology for training and a 100-kWh generator. The central training center will include a 14-foot projector screen to accommodate large groups for education and certification. The building's design, layout, and size will enable various emergency departments and municipalities to train together. Additionally, a helipad, which meets FAA requirements, will be constructed adjacent to the fire department. The new building will also house the LOC EOC, creating a centralized hub for first responders and emergency personnel. This will enhance coordination, communication, and resource management during emergencies. The EOC will also serve as a regional support center, enabling LOC to offer assistance to neighboring counties during crises or natural disasters. As of March 12, 2025, the Live Oak County is applying for $3.25 million in grant funding through the Community Funding Program (CFP). Information regarding design firm, construction manager, and general contractor selection timeline have not been established. Further details regarding construction and completion timelines have not been identified.
