The City of San Diego, Public Utilities Department (PUD) owns and manages nearly 40,000 acres of watershed lands in mostly rural San Diego County (refer to Appendix 1). The watershed lands support seven rural reservoirs that include Barrett Dam, El Capitan Dam, Hodges Dam, Morena Dam, San Vicente Dam, Savage Dam, and Sutherland Dam as well as thousands of acres of regional habitat. The department also owns and manages two urban reservoirs and a variety of urban parcels related to water and wastewater infrastructure. The contractor shall provide PUD with As-Needed Invasive Weed Management Services, specifically related to terrestrial invasive weed control, native biomass management, and habitat enhancement or restoration to protect natural resources on PUD lands (such as mitigation sites, water treatment plants, or wastewater treatment plants) and source waters in the reservoirs. The overarching goal is aimed at protecting desirable native plant communities to prevent infestations, rather than merely controlling weeds.
