Identification of Service Line Materials: o Perform visual inspections, excavations, or other non-invasive techniques to identify the materials used in service lines. o Determine and document the presence of lead service lines (LSLs), including partial and full lead lines, and differentiate them from other materials such as, polyethylene extruded pipe (pex), copper, plastic, galvanized. o When identification of a service line requires disturbing of surfaces such as lawns, asphalt or concrete including but not limited to sidewalks, roads and alleys must be restored their original state. If in the process of identifying a service line any damage occurs to the service line, it must be promptly repaired and service restored utilizing materials that are lead free. If the identification of a service line requires excavation and or meter box removal backfill, and meter box placement must occur. . o Collect and record data regarding the service line materials discovered for each address or service location identified to include but not limited to electronic documentation and photos etc. o Where excavation or direct inspection of a service occurs, compliance with all applicable safety and environmental standards is required.
