Walker County Government is now accepting sealed bids to resurface multiple roads in 2025 & 2026. The work involves roughly 70 miles of patching, asphalt overlay with tack coat, leveling and striping along approximately 80 county roads. Contractor will be required to submit a traffic control plan to show how traffic will be maintained if awarded the contract. Summary - Scope of Work _ Patching, binder overlay, asphalt overlay with tack coat, leveling and striping according to the proposal form item page for 70.57 miles of roads in unincorporated Walker County. _ Provide perimeter security and erosion control measures throughout the duration of the project in accordance with permits. Comply with federal, state and local regulations. _ Provide minimum one (1) year warranty on material & workmanship. _ The project must start by July 1, 2025. 40% of the project must be completed by December 31, 2025 and 100% of the project must be completed no later than September 30, 2026, unless the parties agree to an extension of time. Quality Assurance Requirements _ Traffic Control: Ensure warning signs are in place in accordance with "The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the specifications that control the project. Check for trained flag-persons and determine if a pilot vehicle is required. Place any traffic control device that may be necessary to warn the public about the construction zone. Portable Advance Warning Signs are fine. _ Project Safety: The contractor is solely responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for the duration of the project. _ Acceptance Testing: Ensure compliance with all applicable GDOT specifications; submit required delivery tickets, material samples, and other submittals as required by contract. Random testing of workmanship and materials may be conducted at the owner's discretion. _ The Contractor shall be responsible for taking corrective action for any notices of violations issued as a result of the Contractors or all subcontractors' actions or performances during this scope of work. Environmental Controls _ Comply with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to water, air, solid waste, recycling, chemical waste, sanitary waste, sediment and noise pollution. _ Protection of Natural Resources: Preserve the natural resources within the project boundaries or restore to an equivalent condition. _ Temporary Construction: Remove indications of temporary construction facilities, such as haul roads, work areas, structures, stockpiles or waste areas. _ Water Resources: Comply with applicable regulations concerning the direct or indirect discharge of pollutants to underground and natural surface waters. _ Oily Substances: Prevent oily or other hazardous substances from entering the ground, drainage areas, or local bodies of water in such quantities as to affect normal use, aesthetics, or produce a measurable ecological impact on the area. _ Store and service construction equipment at areas designated for collection of oil wastes. _ Dust Control, Air Pollution, and Odor Control: Prevent creation of dust, air pollution and odors. _ Use temporary enclosures and other appropriate methods to limit dust and dirt rising and scattering in air to the lowest practical level. _ Store volatile liquids, including fuels and solvents, in closed containers. _ Properly maintain equipment to reduce gaseous pollutant emissions. _ Noise Control: Perform demolition operations to minimize noise. _ Repetitive, high level impact noise will be permitted only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Aside from this, there are no work hour restrictions.
