Village of Glen Ellyn, IL that sealed proposals for the Glen Ellyn Historical Stacy's Tavern Tuckpointing and Stair Replacement. The Village of Glen Ellyn reserves the right to issue proposal documents only to those companies deemed qualified. Stacy's Tavern Museum in the Village of Glen Ellyn, Illinois is an award-winning restoration of an authentic 1840's wayside inn which is owned by the Village of Glen Ellyn and operated by the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. It stands in its original location on Geneva Road. The tavern was built by Moses Stacy and his wife Joann in 1846. The building was acquired by the Village in 1968, and restoration began in 1971. The Village of Glen Ellyn is seeking competitive proposals for tuckpointing work and stair replacement at the historic Stacy's Tavern building. Tuckpointing work shall comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation & Illustrated Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings, and the National Park Service Historic Preservation Standards and Guidelines: The existing wooden stairs at the Tavern front/main entrance and side doors are suffering from wood rot and need to be replaced for the safety of the visitors. Design and appearance of replacement stairs shall match as closely as possible the design and appearance of the existing stairs. Finishing products (paint, stain, etc.) should match the existing color of the building and/or other surrounding wood pieces. All woodwork shall comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation & Illustrated Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings, and the National Park Service Historic Preservation Standards and Guidelines.
