Question Deadline 04/03/2025 at 3:00 PM PT Online Q&A Yes The City owns 20 backup power diesel generators equipped with automatic emergency switching gear that require repairing or replacement on an on-call basis. The City intends to enter into a five-year agreement with a firm to repair these generators on an on-call basis. The City's Transportation Department includes a Fleet Services Division, whose in-house mechanics maintain the diesel engine portion of their two backup generators and the City's Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining their emergency automatic transfer switch gear. As an optional addition for the City to consider, the City is also seeking a price to perform the weekly generator engine testing and routine maintenance activities at 18 of the 20 diesel motors as recommended by the NFPA. Those 20 City-owned generators are listed in Exhibit A - List of City-Owned Generators of this RFP and they include public parks, fire stations, City Hall, the Police Station, the Transportation facility, the Veterans Memorial Complex, sewage lifting/pumping stations, and office buildings that are primarily occupied by City staff. The diesel generators and switching gear are manufactured by Detroit Diesel, Generac, Cummins, John Deere, Olympian, Onan, Kohler and Katolight. The age of some of the generators are beyond their estimated useful life, and as such, require more frequent repair.
