As of October 14, 2025, construction has not started. Construction is likely to start in the next four months. The Satellite Concourse 1 Project is a new remote concourse facility located adjacent and south of existing Concourse C within the airport operations area. This new 19-gate facility is comprised of approximately 650,000 square feet over multiple levels. The building is a structural steel and concrete superstructure. The project further includes the construction of portions of an underground concrete tunnel connecting future facilities and additionally includes apron paving and other utility and facility improvements. Prequalification required for Bid will be received by AECOM/Hunt Clayco, a Joint Venture comprised of AECOM/Hunt, Clayco and Bowa (AHCB) for the specific bid and trade package(s) listed below. Note: Sub Tier Subcontractors and Suppliers need not prequalify. Bid Package #03: Satellite Concourse 1 Project Trade Package 09 MCP - Building & Site Improvement: This trade package includes construction of a Type IIB one story, single occupancy building approximately 26 ft high encompassing approximately 19,350-SF. This trade package further includes the construction of the base building systems to include an automatic sprinkler system. Trade Package 10 MCP - Mechanical: This trade package includes furnishing and installing all the cooling mechanical equipment, to include but not limited to, chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, connection to the distribution system etc., at the MCP. In addition, the scope of work includes the furnishing and installing the heating mechanical equipment, and associated improvements to add boilers to the existing H&R Plant to include connection to the distribution system. Trade Package 11 MCP - Electrical: This trade package includes furnishing and installing the electrical equipment and distribution system for the Midfield Cooling Plant (MCP). The scope of work includes, but is not limited to medium voltage distribution equipment, ductbanks and feeders, grounding and bonding systems, lightning protection, interior and exterior lighting of the MCP, fire alarm system and data communication infrastructure. This scope of work further includes coordination with the construction of a new ComEd switchyard for the MCP electrical system. Trade Package 12 Satellite 1 - Excavation: This trade package includes the excavation, grading, and backfill for the Satellite 1 basement and shallow foundations and the, the Consolidated Tunnel.
