Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Adrian, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
The successful respondent must furnish both a labor and materials payment bond, and a performance bond, each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of his/her contract amount. Labor and payment bonds must include the following items: the full name and address of the respondent and respondent's surety; the proper contract date; the exact amount of the contract; the engineer's name and address (if applicable); signature; corporate seal (if applicable); notarization; and Power of Attorney. The Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD), a regional educational service agency located in Adrian, Michigan, seeks proposals from qualified vendors for the design and installation of universal playground equipment at its Milton C Porter Education Center, located at 2946 Sutton Road Adrian, MI 49221. The Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) desires a design that meets the physical, sensory, communicative, social, emotional and cognitive needs of users with a wide variety of physical and cognitive disabilities. The selected contractor will incorporate universal design principles for inclusive play. The design will also address the needs of emotionally impaired children. The selected design will provide opportunities for children with disabilities to interact and play directly with their peers. Playground designs should emphasize a diverse set of activities and spaces that are intentionally designed to promote the physical, cognitive, social, and learning development of the users. o Design shall include equipment for both 2 to 5-year-old and 5- to 12-year-old age groups. o Design shall include a minimum of 35 play components with at least half of the elevated components accessible by ramp and all the elevated components accessible by ramp or transfer. o Decks are to be connected by ADA-compliant ramps and should all be of suitable size to allow users using a variety of mobility devices to access and use decklevel components. o Design shall include a minimum of 17 accessible ground-level components of at least 5 different types. o Design shall include a freestanding sound/musical panel containing a minimum of 5 different sound or musical options. Questions will only be addressed via email so that responses may be shared with all interested parties in the form of addenda to this RFP. Questions must be submitted for response no later than five business days (M-F) prior to the response deadline. Questions received after that time may not be answered at the discretion of the LISD. Design to include a minimum of 3 slides of varying types, at least one of which shall be a double slide. o Design shall include several ADA panels above ground level. o Design shall incorporate multiple barrier-free components for children of all abilities. o Design shall include 8 swing seats with a minimum of 4 inclusive swing seats. Swings shall be 5" OD Arch Frame type. o LIMITED WARRANTY FOR AS LONG AS YOU OWN THE PRODUCT: Aluminum deck posts, steel deck posts, VersaLok(R) fastening system, cast aluminum parts, and stainless-steel hardware. o LIMITED FIFTEEN (15) YEAR WARRANTY: All rigid steel playground components, decks, steps, and weldments, rotationally molded and sheet plastic components, plastic lumber, roof panels, and stainless-steel slides, except as otherwise specified below. o LIMITED TEN (10) YEAR WARRANTY: Fabric shade steel frames, and Shadesure(TM) and Colourshade FR fabrics (Note Exception: Limited Five (5) Year Warranty on Shadesure(TM) fabrics in colors Red, Yellow, Electric Purple, Zesty Lime, Cinnamon, and Olive.) o LIMITED EIGHT (8) YEAR WARRANTY: o Fiberglass signage, precast PolyFiberCrete or precast concrete products. o Integrated shade fabric and components against rot, UV deterioration and defects in materials and workmanship (Note Exception: Limited Three (3) Year Warranty for fabric in shades of red). o LIMITED FIVE (5) YEAR WARRANTY: o Heavy duty diamond barrier mesh and Kidrox(TM) Climbing Rocks. o Mira-Therm(TM) PVC coating against cracking or peeling. o Park and Site Amenities (i.e. benches, tables, trash receptacles, etc.). o GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) Products. o Accessible swing seats latch and hinge mechanism. o Steel core cable nets and rope fittings and connections (Note Exception: Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear such as fraying or facing of cable coating). o Concerto products (Note Exception: Warranty does not cover mallets or Tall Chime cable assemblies). o LIMITED THREE (3) YEAR WARRANTY: Flexible belting, plastic border timbers and accessories, and electronic panel speakers, sound chips, and circuit boards. o LIMITED ONE (1) YEAR WARRANTY: o Slash proof Swing Seats, 360 Bucket Tot Swing Seats, and TuGBP Net no climbing mesh. o Pool slide support structures, stairways, landings, and railings. o All other products, components and custom pieces that are not specifically listed above, including, without limitation, all moving parts, such as swing hangers and bearings, swivels, chains, whirls, springs and flexible components, and all high-wear items, such as trolleys, cables, wheels, and bumper stops related to rail and cable ride products. o Design shall fit available space as shown on the site plan. Note that dimensions are approximate, and it is the responsibility of the Bidder to review the site and ensure the proposed design fits the available space while also ensuring compliance with all code requirements. o All decks and components shall connect using an aluminum alloy clamping system. All climbing attachments shall include a 15" wide deck entry archway to control deck access to one child at a time and help prevent inadvertent falls. o Posts to be 5" round and decks to be 48" square. 5" O.D. uprights with a highstrength aluminum alloy clamp fastening system finished with a polyester powder coat. All uprights shall receive factory-installed aluminum post caps and will ship with labels for manufacturer identification. o Manufacturer shall offer the following warranties on the materials and components of its system: Lifetime limited warranty on support posts (uprights), 15-year warranty on punched steel decks, pipes, rails, loops, and rungs, 15-year warranty on rotationally molded polyethylene components, Lifetime warranty on all hardware. Respondents must include specific details about all warranties offered, including any applicable limitations. o 5-year warranty on workmanship without limitations. o Manufacturer shall provide IPEMA certification of compliance for each component that the product conforms with the requirements of ASTM F1487-01. o Design must incorporate an accessible route (4 ft. x 4 inch thick fiberreinforced concrete sidewalk) to the playground from the existing sidewalk and surrounding perimeter of the play area. All disturbed areas must be final graded and reseeded.
