Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Lexington, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; for the construction of a 349,848-square-foot educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; playground / park / athletic field; playground / park / athletic field; playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
Work of the Project includes Building and Site Work for the construction of a new 349,848 sf Henry Clay High School designed for 2300 students. This high school will be constructed of masonry veneer on ICF, CMU and CIP concrete walls with areas of metal wall siding and canopy systems. This multi-story facility will be supported by caissons, grade beams, and spread footing with slab on grade. Roofing systems will be a 2-ply modified bitumen roof, with select areas of roof sanding seam metal panel. An ICC 500 compliant tornado shelter will be provided. This will be a high-performance building with geothermal heating and cooling and enhanced building envelope commissioning. Site work will encompass extensive earthwork, permeable surfaces, retaining walls, signage, utility work, landscaping, seeding and sodding, parking, drives and traffic control devices, and irrigated baseball and softball fields and equipment. PROJECT #: 2315/XHCH23, BG-24-279 construction of the new Henry Clay High School and demolition of the old Henry Clay High School building and related campus site The project includes acceptance of all existing site conditions (which are to be inspected by all bidders prior to bidding) and all other general construction, mechanical and electrical work specified in the Contract Documents dated March 26, 2025. Liquidated damages will be assessed per the specifications. Direct Purchase of materials through Owner will be provided as a Contractor's option. Refer to Supplemental Instructions to Bidders and construction documents for additional information. Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond, payable to the Owner in an amount of not less than 5% of the bid. The award of the contract shall be made on the basis of the lowest and best bid in the interest of Fayette County Board of Education. No bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the bid opening. All questions during the bidding period shall be submitted to and Katrina Littrell (katrina@thjarch.com) and Becca Cox (becca@thjarch.com). All questions shall be submitted no later than ten (10) days prior to the established bid date. This process has been developed with the intent to support the Fayette County Board of Education in meeting their District-wide 13% goal for Minority-, Women- and VeteranOwned Business Enterprises (M/W/VBE) participation for total bid contracts Question Deadline 04/15/2025 Doc note: Hard copy printed sets are paid for by contractors. No partial sets will be issued. If documents are to be mailed, an additional non-refundable charge per set may be required. The successful bidder is responsible for all additional sets they may require. The Owner reserves the right to waive informalities and irregularities and shall have the right to reject any and all bids. The successful bidder shall provide a 100% Performance and Payment Bond. Major subcontractors shall also provide a Performance and Payment Bond for their portion of the scope of work. Preference for resident bidders shall be given as outlined in KRS 45A.90 to 45A.94.
